We took our grandsons to the War Museum on a school break day, and had a wonderful time. The layout is very logical, and the whole place has the feel of a bunker! Lots of explanations about the displays, and the staff were welcoming and knowledgable. Some of the veterans there gave excellent information to the boys about the equipment. The boys especially liked all the armoured vehicles and weaponry. They have some of the vehicles open so they can see what they are like inside as well.
Parking is mostly underground, not good if ou have a truck or high vehicle. There is limited parking in front of the museum. I would advise going on off-days when there are less people. Veterans and military people get free admission for themselves and 3 others.

Despite not being a fan of war time stuff, I found it interesting. The large plans and tanks were spectacular to see up close and personal.

A massive tribute to Canadian forces covering over 200 years of conflict. First class displays on a huge scale sensibly organized. No glamour, just raw equipment and how and when it was used. An improvement would be to add the consequences of war, the casualties, the destruction, the mental and physical toll to soldiers and their families themselves as well as the civilians. Don't forget to visit the military library in the same building.

It was our first visit and we weren't sure what to expect. The museum turned out to be one of the best museums we'd ever visited. The interpretive guide staff were amazing...very knowledgable and friendly. We had a great experience with our 9 year old.
