The War Museum is one of my favorite museums. Being the daughter of a WWII veteran, it holds a special place in my heart. I think that Canada has such a proud history of military service that everyone should be aware of it and our children should be reminded of why they can enjoy the freedoms they have. My boys enjoyed the museum almost as much as I did. They particularlly enjoyed the tanks and other vehicles in the LeBreton Gallery.

This museum was very well done. The museum takes you through Canada at War in a chronological order. Their are many great artifacts and they had a special exhibit called 11 Women Facing War. This exhibit was very moving and should not be missed!

The museum takes visitors through a series of events that shaped the nation of Canada as well the world. The displays are well thought out and there are many pieces of millitary history on display, from the tomahawks that the Indians used hundreds of years ago, to modern millitary weapons like the C8 assault rifle. There is everything from small arms to torpedos and tanks, with a beautiful collection of fully restored vehicles, tanks and even a fighter jet on display, and Hitler's limosine. They also touch on Canada's peace keeping roll in the world. Often there are war veterans there to answer questions and give talks. Even if you do not have an interest in war, this is a rewarding visit to understand history and pay a small tribute to those men and women who have fought for us and who continue to keep us safe.
