“Canadian War Museum”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I have visited it more than once and have never been disappointed. It gives the Canadian perspective regarding our participation in the Boer War, WW1, WW2, Korea and even the latest conflicts. The best exhibit in my opinion are the Tanks. They have almost ever tank possible, including some that were manufactured in Canada. If you want to know more about Canadian history this a must.

“An interesting museum about war”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

War Museums aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but this one is good. The building looks like a bunker and the entrance is on the side, not on the main road. It’s easy to get lost! Inside is a huge, quite dark atrium with the ticket office, shop and café. The Museum starts up a low ramp but once through the doors you are in an amazing place set out around a central point. Each major war event(s) lead off this point so you can choose which period of war history you wish to explore from here. It’s a great idea for a large site.

There is a separate temporary exhibition section and we visited that plus a ramp leads down to the huge space that has the large war machines - tanks and guns etc. The walls leading down to this space are covered with some amazing war paintings, photographs and drawings.

The café here has also got a fine exhibition of paintings of poppies. The Poem “In Flanders Fields” was written by a Canadian during the First World War so it is very appropriate. The poppy paintings are the best thing about the café - the food is terrible and so is the service or lack of it!

The Museum is good if you don’t go to the café.

I really was blown away by this facility. Plan for this to take a full day and bring your camera. Easy to get to and ample indoor parking.

“Just go and have a look. You will be surprised”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

I am not one to visit museums but was dragged here with my grandchildren and by was I pleased.
The building its self is amazing never mind the exhibits. I was initially interested in the tanks as I served with them in the British Army. The whole vehicle display was interesting.
I must admit ignorance on my part about the wars our close friend The Canadians were involve in. I know all about WW1 and WW2 where they gave of their best. But it was the history back in 17-1800. Fascinating.
In the end my grandchildren had to drag me out after 4 hours and I did not see it all.
