We were greeted by a giant spider at the entrance of this museum. WOW!
I just love the architecture of the building-simple lines, peaceful atmosphere, zero clutter, places to rest and soak in the beauty of the art pieces.
Wonderful collection in a space that lets you appreciate every piece.
Well stocked boutique shop too.

Never disappointed with a visit to the National Gallery. Allow enough time to check out the permanent displays too. Lots of standing and walking so wear comfy shoes. The gift store is very neat too. Lots of interesting stuff to buy.

There is a lot of interesting art to see here although we all had to hide smiles (okay, we smirked) when in the modern art section - initially I really thought I had wandered into a storage area by mistake. The only negative was the wait to get in. The lines moved so very slowly; there must be another way of processing people more quickly. Or they need to hire more staff.

Very nice art gallery located downtown. Nice collection including works by Rembrandt, Renoir, Monet, Pissaro, and early Renaissance artists. Did not like the modern art and felt there was too much of it for my tastes. Very nice cafeteria to have lunch or coffee in a warm, sunlit room. Very affordable. Spent five hours there. Wheelchairs and scooters available for people with mobility issues.

We stopped at the National Gallery on Canada Day just for something to do. I don't know much about art, but it was a very interesting experience to go through and see some of the famous pieces that are there.

I have to admit that some of the very contemporary/modern art was just way over my head. The exhibit entitled "The Surgeon and the Photographer" was just plain weird and creepy to me, but I guess that's the point - art should evoke various emotions in you!

It was hard to see everything that was available because there was just so many pieces and occasionally we got a little turned around!

Overall, it was definitely worth the time.
