“Better than average Comfort Inn”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I've stayed at many Comfort Inns and this one was one of the better ones. Relatively quiet, average beds, plenty of hot water, and the lake is right in front! Great deal for the value.

My only compliant is the smoking. I asked for a non-smoking room but the hallways were filled with the smell of smoke and it crept in under the door.

Also watch out for pets as this hotel accepts pets and you may find pet hairs every now and then in your room.

Room Tip: This hotel has no elevator, but it's still worth getting a room on the second floor since it'...

This is a typical older Comfort Inn. The layout of the room was useless. They have added a mini fridge and microwave in a corner. This moved the table with 2 chairs to where you could not use the chairs. A severe shortage of electrical outlets. When we asked where to eat we were directed to the Best Western next door which looked like a better hotel and had a nice restaurant. The breakfast was the typical minimal affair. Room was clean and decently cared for but they need some work on the layout. Not what I figure for a Comfort Inn.

We stopped here for a night on our vacation. This was a great hotel, the service was excellent, rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable! The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that I know traveling through North Bay, and we will stay here again if we have the chance.

I have stayed at this Comfort Inn the past 2 summers and have had a good experience both times. They must have made a few upgrades to the rooms as the furnishings seemed a bit nicer. Based on the clean rooms and the included breakfast alone this hotel would get a very good rating instead of the average. The hallway needed some minor work at one end and the exterior could use a sprucing. Location is nice, lake Nippising is across the street. Friendly staff.

Room Tip: Ask for 1st floor, you can back right up to the room.

The lakeshore is a ways away, we had to get directions to get there. We could hear a lot of doors slamming. The biggest problem was breakfast, only 9 chairs and three tables for the whole hotel. We stood part of the time until someone left. That was not a good feeling for us or them.

We were "walk-ins" and Donna on reception made us feel right at home as she was so friendly, welcoming and very helpful. A good asset to this hotel.

Our room and bathroom was absolutely fine for the price and rating of the hotel and exactly as expected. It was clean, roomy and comfy. We both had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed with plump pillows. bathroom was spotless with quality towels. Donna rang to ask if everything was OK and this was much appreciated and very professional.

The only down side for this hotel is that the breakfast area is a disaster and should be sorted immediately. It is tiny....three tables for the whole hotel is totally unacceptable!!....cramped and soulless. No...this is a BIG no no. Breakfast itself needs sorting as well as we had a far better selection at The Comfort Inn in Wilton for the same price. There is no microwave, no plain oatmeal, no selection of breads, no English muffins, etc, etc.

Overall an average Comfort Inn, with a very good reception.

This is fairly isolated with only two restaurants nearby...The Churchill and the one at the Best Western.

We were put up in this hotel while in town for business, so not sure of price of stay. There was some good and bad with this place, which if I new the price of the stay could affect the overall and individual aspects of the rating. Not having the information on the price I will have to review without being able to take that into consideration.

We had just spent a long day traveling on the day of our arrival. We live in the Midland area but had been down in the Niagara area that weekend. On the Sunday we had to drive from the Niagara area to our home in Waubaushene, where we had to repack for a couple of days, then we were off to North Bay, as my fiance had some work to do in town for the Monday and Tuesday. Upon check in, my fiance said the women working didn't seem overly friendly or personable. She told us to park out front and how to get to our room. When we got to our room we realized it was right next to the stair well halfway down the building, which had its own entrance. Kinda dumb to park all the way at the front, so we then moved the car. I think they still have a smoking section. You can smell it as you go through the hall near the front of the building on the second floor

The room itself appeared clean enough and was comfortable for the couple of nights we had to stay, except for the temperature of the room. I always appreciate it when they turn the air on when they know guests will be occupying the room, but that is not a big deal and we turned the air on. As a previous reviewer stated, the air system is quite noisy. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was pleasantly quiet during our stay. It appeared to be busy enough but we did not hear doors slamming or voices through the hallway at all.

The bathroom appeared to be moldy along the top of the walls, and so was the bottom edge of the shower curtain. The shower curtain had been tucked up into the shower, showing that cleaning staff had in fact been in, but not sure what they had done in there. As I stated earlier, it had been a busy weekend already and we were hoping to be able to give our 8 month old son a bath in the hotel room. However, when I showered the tub would hardly drain and filled up with the shower water. It took forever for the tub to , and when it did, the tub was full of soap and was too dirty to bathe the baby in. We did not bother alerting staff of this right away as we were only here for a couple of days and the baby could wait until we got home.

Breakfast was fine enough with a waffle station, hard boiled eggs (except they ran out one morning before we got down for breakfast at 7:30), fruit, assortment of breads and muffins, cereals, juice, coffee and tea (again, I don't know if the included breakfast reflected the price paid). AS a previous reviewer stated, the space is VERY limited and we had to keep shuffling all through our breakfast so that others could come and go to tables, or just to move along the buffet.

We never saw the same lady that checked us in, but the other staff we saw interacting with other guests seemed very friendly and attentive (even speaking fluent French to the guests that required it).Upon check out, I did inform the girl that was working about the issues with the shower/tub. Their maintenance guy was just walking away but quickly turned around when he heard me, wrote the issues and room number down and they said they would get on those issues wright away. They seemed sincere and were thankful for us having informed them of these matters.

All in all it was a comfortable stay, but the issues we did have brought this hotel in below average. If cleaning staff come in, they should easily see and rectify a moldy shower curtain.

Room Tip: 1st floor if you can't do stairs
