The B&B is located close to the village centre, and the village certainly deserves its reputation as the prettiest village in Canada. The B&B is on a quiet street, but situated only a 5-10 minute walk from shops and restaurants.

The house itself is charming. We stayed in the two-bed suite, and found the rooms wonderfully furnished. Having said that, the door to the bathroom/toilet didn't shut properly.

The owners do have direct access into the property via a door in the kitchen, and we were slightly surprised on a couple of occasions to note the owners standing in the kitchen when we hadn't heard the door open. Although I am sure it was not intended, it did give us a slight sense of unease and lack of privacy.

The B&B is probably perfect for elderly couples, but be careful with young children. Our children are aged 7 and 4, and can be considered well-behaved. However, on the first night, the owner did appear in the kitchen to ask that our children stop running around the house, as it was too noisy in the owner's flat downstairs. For the rest of our stay, our children were conscious of walking quietly, and were paranoid about making the slightest noise. For us, it did mean that the polish was slightly taken off our stay as we found it somewhat difficult to fully relax.

The owner brings breakfast up into the kitchen each morning. We were given no real choice as to breakfast, although we did start to ask for specific foods towards the end of our stay. Initially, the owner said that breakfast would be available at any time from 8:30am onwards - this did create a problem for our planned early start into Niagara Falls. On the last day, we needed to leave the B&B early, so asked for breakfast at 7:30am. The owner agreed, but we got the impression that it was not to be encouraged. I should add, however, that the quality of food was excellent.

Therefore, this is a difficult B&B to rate. In terms of the house itself, its location, its furnishings and its cleanliness, it deserves nothing less than 5 stars. However, in terms of a relaxed stay with young children - no.

We spent three wonderful nights at Williams Gate Bed and Breakfast. Anca greeted us with a warm smile and information on the region and her hospitality just continued from there. We stayed in the lower suite which was very spacious, comfortably decorated, had access to internet, and stocked with teas and coffee. And the breakfast.....WOW! It was amazing with the omelets truly being the best we have ever had, the smoothies topped with a hint of fresh grown mint, the best sourcream raisin pie ever, fresh fruit, and dishes with just the perfect touch of spices. Anca was also quick to remember our daughter does not care for tomatoes and even turned the living room light on for us one night when we were out late at the Theater so that we had a welcome entrance home. She is very respectful of privacy too and even the breakfasts are brought directly to your suite. Would we return? In a heartbeat. Bonnie from Calgary, Canada

The reviews on here seem to be more glowing than I would give. I agree with everyone that Anca's service is impeccable! She is warm, friendly, hugely accomodating, not to mention an amazing breakfast cook! Plus, I loved that breakfast was served in the suite at whatever time you requested - so much more flexible than many places! The suites are clean, the house is in a good location for walking, and it is a nice, quiet street.
The only thing that seems different from other's experiences is that I was surprised the rooms were not made up each day (kitchen was cleaned, but that was about it), and the actual condition of the house is not great. Plumbing problems in the bathrooms meant the last person in the shower was standing in ankle deep water (ew!), we had troubles with locks on doors because of old lock mechanisms coming loose, the garden/gazebo area is just standard but not worth raving about, the exterior such as the roof likely needs work and the actual "finishing" in the suites was not great (this is my attention to architectural and interior design detail showing here). I know it is an older house and at this point I am being picky because our stay was still wonderful, but those types of problems were fairly surprising to me given the many other great options in town, the price we had paid, and the reviews here.
Anca's fabulous hosting makes this place!

First of all I want to thank the reviewer for the time spent in writing the review about his/her stay and also for his/her excellent appreciation of the service I provided to his travel party.
Secondly I have to clarify few of his remarks for the sake of our prospective guests:
1. "Rooms are not made daily": The statement is true, but is not the result of a lack of service and consideration for our guests. In fact, it is a result of my experience as a B&B hostess with our previous and actual guests whom chose and are choosing our accommodations, when and if are looking for privacy, and as a consequence, my commitment to respect the wishes of the majority of them.
2. "Actual condition of the house was not great". Our house is a 50 years old house, majorly renovated by the previous owner in 2002 and continuously and extensively renovated since 2006, when we started operating the B&B. The roof was replaced in 2008 and 2009, major plumbing repairs have been done during January 2009, all the locks of the entrances are new. Our house is not perfect and for sure not the most beautiful house in NOTL, by any means, but we LOVE our house. We put a lot of effort and a part of our hearts in it and we are so grateful to our guests who are noticing and feeling this. Our house is perfectible of course, and this is what we are doing, day by day, because both, my husband and I, we are aiming for excellence, and we know that we will get there eventually.
What I would love to be understand from the above mentioned is that, our house is anything but not an old, neglected and improperly maintained house. Thank you very much indeed!

Large suites, use of the outside gazebo and BBQ, in-your-suite breakfast on your time and excellent food by a gracious and helpful hostess in a quiet location. Exceeded our expectations. Would definitely return. If you go, do NOT eat at the Stone Road Grille which is only a couple of blocks walk but a couple of minutes in the car further down Stone Road you can go to the Old Winery which is much better from every aspect.

Staying at Anca's on the top floor was like staying in our own flat. Anca was so kind & friendly & even lent us some books to look at about her home country which we hope to visit very soon. Can't really say anything that hasn't been said already, breakfast lovely and really something different, lovely walk to the main street & restaurants, location very quiet and bed really comfortable. Thank you very much.

If you go to Niagara on the Lake, stay with Anca Buture in her great value home from home. Fantastic homecooked breakfasts appear in your own comfortable self contained suite, the rooms are cleaned daily and decorated to a very high standrad. No effort or expense is spared by Anca, and the B&B is only a few blocks from all amenities. We have stayed many places in the world and never received such warm personal hospitality with attention to detail that would shame many 6 star hotels.

I don't have the words for how relaxing I found our stay at williams gate.I had such a good time. We had four adults in our party and stayed on the first floor. There was plenty of room for us. Every one in our party just loved the place. Anca's breakfast was great, the cottage was lovely. It was walking distacne from town. I highly recommend staying there.
