“Peaceful Retreat”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Beautiful Grounds, Immaculate Rooms, Delicious Food and Hospitable Hosts. What more can I say. My sisters-in-law were visiting from Las Vegas and Chicago to look up some family history in the Beamsville area. Having stayed at "Silver Birches" last fall for a Dinner and Wine Tasting at Rosewood Winery, it was a perfect choice once again. Nestled in the heart of wine country and just a short drive to Niagara Falls I would recommend a stay with no hesitation. We will be back.

We stayed for a long weekend (Thursday to Monday) and had an excellent time. Paul and Leah are both incredibly hospitable and their Bed and Breakfast was beautiful and much like home. Bottled water and Khurig coffee, tea and hot chocolate were provided throughout the stay. Breakfast was huge and wonderful every morning with yogurt, fresh fruit, tasty croissants and toast with marmalade and a tasty main dish. They were sensitive to our schedule and accommodating to our friends and family who would sporadically come by and visit (we were there for a wedding in the area). During our little bit of down time, Paul made excellent suggestions for wineries and places to visit in the area. It is within a short drive of Niagra Falls, Niagara on the lake, and many wineries and small towns right on lake Ontarios, yet far enough removed to enjoy the stillness and beauty of the area without being bogged down by tourist. There are plenty of vineyards, peach trees and cherry trees around to keep you occupied for a whole day as well! The only amenity we didn't get to try that we wanted to was the free bicycles provided (2), but that was because of our schedule and a bit of rain on our down day.

Our rooms (The Meritage and Cabernet)were very comfortable and well cared for. Fresh sheets and towels every day. They were gracious to our messiness and still took good care of the space. Cable television, as well as a small DVD collection is provided. Ceiling fans are in at least all the rooms we were in. Washroom had plenty of space for a couple.

The garden is serene and they work very hard to keep it up. You could honestly spend a whole day just parousing around the grounds and relaxing. There is an outdoor, in ground swimming pool and a hot tub (in proper season of course), tennis courts, and a few acres of gardens and rolling grassy areas perfect for sitting and sipping wine or playing with kids.

We have many photos, but none uploaded at the moment to my laptop.

In comparison to the area, it was as affordable as any other b&b ($130 in low season, $145 in high) and they take care of us unlike any other. All in all, we had a great experience and I would recommend that anyone in the area stay!

Room Tip: Any! They are all great!

Home away from home with beautiful grounds, three course breakfasts, and two of the sweetest owners. This might not be as close to niagara as some might like but this town am b&b are worth the distance. They are beautiful and avoid the congestion of tourists and craziness that come with places closer to the falls. The town surrounding is full of great restaurants and cute shops. It was peaceful and any need we had Paul and Leah, the wonderful and fun owners, met beyond expectations. I have traveled a lot and never felt more at home at a home that wasn't my own. YOU WILL lOVE THIS PLACE!!!

This was a birthday getaway for the May 24 long weekend and it could not have gone any better! Its nestled in between countless wineries which was a beautiful drive in. The B&B was welcoming, tons of flowers and a cute porch and lobby as you enter. Paul showed us around upon our arrival. Unfortunately the pool was still closed for the season however the indoor hot tub was open for use. We walked the large grounds but there were quite a lot of flies (may just be the timing). We stayed in the Merlot room which was very clean with great linens. The bathroom was updated and had wonderful little toiletries that I ended up having to use. We were able to leave our bottle of wine in the mini-fridge on the main floor and grab a cup of tea late at night. The gourmet breakfast that Paul cooked was AMAZING. We got down to breakfast a little late from oversleeping but everything was still made fresh to order. Croissants were warm and flaky, cheese souffle has now become my favourite. Paul and Leah recommend and gave us free wine tasting vouchers to use at one of the local wineries as well as great advice on places to see in the area. We ended up skipping lunch as breakfast was huge and had a wine tasting at one of the wineries. I would definitely recommend staying at this B&B.

Thanks Paul & Leah - Jill & Nick
