Highgrove Bed & Breakfast
Reviewed September 15, 2007

We are just back from a fantastic holiday in Canada. Highgrove was the first place we stayed, and really set the standard for us, with high quality accommodation in beautiful Niagara on the Lake. What made it really special, in the lovely house and garden, was the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts (Michael & Bruce). They really do cook a 'gourmet' breakfast!!! (which is so good we didn't need lunch!) They went out of their way to provide us with lots of local knowledge, advice and practical help which all made our stay more memorable and enjoyable. We would love to go back and stay with them again if we ever get back to Canada, and have no hesitation in recommending Highgrove !

We have just returned from Highgrove in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was our first visit to this bed and breakfast but it will not be our last! The house is located in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood only a 10 to 15 minute walk into the heart of town. It is very close to the Shaw Festival theatres, restaurants, boutiques and stores as well as a golf course, recreational trails and the shores of Lake Ontario.

We have stayed at many different bed and breakfasts in N-O-T-L over the years however this one is now at the top of our list! Everythng about Highgrove is first class - the guest rooms and suites are very comfortable with tastefully appointed furnishings from exotic locations around the world, the common areas are very warm and inviting and the gardens are beautifully landscaped.

Our hosts, Michael and Bruce, were very friendly, helpful and personable. They offered recommendations to us for dining, local attractions and wineries that supplemented our annual enjoyment of the Shaw Festival productions.

The gourmet breakfasts are exquisite and very beautifully presented. They begin with fresh fruit followed by a hot dish that changes daily and freshly baked muffins and pastries. A perfect way to start the day!

All future visits to N-O-T-L will begin by making reservations at this first-class bed and breakfast followed by bookings for the theatre.

We offer the following tip for those who enjoy the finer things in life - make your reservations for Highgrove early so you won't be disappointed!

We have just returned from our first stay at 'Highgrove B&B'. Having been patrons of the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake since 1990, it was a welcome and refreshing change to find this jewel of a bed and breakfast located within walking distance to the theatres, shops and restaurants. The guest rooms and common areas are very tastefully decorated, the breakfasts are scrumptuous and the kind and gracious hospitality extended to all guests by hosts Michael and Bruce cannot be surpassed! We are looking forward to many returns to this lovely facility and will be definitely recommending it to friends as a 'must do'.

Thanks very much

On our recent holiday, my wife and I travelled across Canada ending up in Niagara on the lake for a visit to the Shaw festival, and have to say we were both very impressed. As we hadn't yet booked an hotel some people we met, suggested we check a B&B going by the name of Highgrove and within easy walking distance from the town. OK we said, and off we went on our travels once more in search of the place. Not to understate it, we both found the house quite charming, set back from the road, the well established gardens and tree's looked a picture in full bloom.
The host's booked us in and showed us to our room, as good as any hotel anywhere, attention to detail far exceeded our expectations, we had fresh flowers in our room every day (well the 3 days we stayed anyway ) clean, crisp linen every day an eclectic mix of furniture and art from all around the world set in a beautifully decorated house. The food we were served at breakfast was as good as any we had had in the hotels
(no better) and set us up for the day.
Our Host's Mike and Bruce made our stay a very memerable one,and so well informed about their town and places for us to visit is a real treat compared to the impersonal service you get from hotels.
We have certainly recommended Highgrove to our friends and family as the place to stay when in town, and we look forward to another trip there in the future.

Highgrove B&B has welcomed us for many years; we are regulars there as well as at the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake. This charming home, lovingly decorated, is in a quiet neighborhood of olde town. The hosts really do anticipate your every need and have always served incredibly great breakfasts - you don't need lunch! They keep beautiful gardens that always seem to be in full bloom, no matter what season we visit. Younger folk could walk to town, no problem. The Travelling Tillies highly recommend it!
