“Great stay at Silken Dreams!!”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

We had a wonderful time in NIagara on the Lake and really enjoyed meeting Don and Melody who were terrific hosts. Melody helped with dinner reservations which was greatly appreciated! Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the conversations with the other guests. We found the location to be very convenient. I highly recommend this B&B!! Thanks Don & Melody!

Room Tip: All the rooms have unique qualities and are very spacious.

Stayed for one night in August and were treated to great hospitality by Don and Melody. Breakfast was delicious. The BnB is not in the heart of downtown but the area is still very pleasant and a very short drive or longer walk from everything.

My husband and I have stayed at quite a few bed and breakfasts, and this was one of our favourites. We took advantage of a last-minute, one night only booking rate, which worked out perfectly because we only needed accommodations for a single night. Melody and Don were wonderful hosts, and our room was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated. We stayed in the Ocean Room, a large suite on the second floor with a comfortable king-size bed, and an en suite washroom with a heated tile floor, claw foot tub, and separate shower. Pamphlets were provided which highlighted various local activities, as well as a binder of menus for local restaurants (something very handy for vegetarians in an unfamiliar town!). Our hosts also offered coupons for free tastings at some wineries we visited – bonus!

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful – an appetizer of poached pear with a main course of French toast and maple syrup, plus there was a lovely homemade banana bread. Even though our booking had been last minute, they were able to accommodate my diabetic vegan husband. Melody and Don did a great job of introducing the guests to each other (there were two other couples), and we had an enjoyable time chatting.

The B&B is located on a quiet residential street. Note that no parking is allowed on the street, but the property has room for about four vehicles on the driveway.

Melody and Don certainly have the gift of hospitality, and we appreciated their warmth and friendliness. If we ever travel through NOTL again, we’ll stay again!

Room Tip: For guests with mobility issues, the Garden Room is on the main floor.

We stayed in the Blue room, which had 2 windows. One looked down on the back garden, which had a nice pond and a deck to sit out on, in the evening. The room was quite large and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was bright and had a window in it, and also was very clean. The king size bed was very comfortable, although the sheets and pillowcases were cotton, they were not a crisp as I would have liked. There is a small bar fridge in the hallway upstairs containing cold bottled water. We used it to store some of the fresh fruit that we had purchased at the roadsite stands. The breakfast was excellent. Don told us that the flower served on the plate was edible, so I gave it a try, and was quite surprised at the taste. Don and Melody are great hosts, and I would certainly reccomend their home to anyone wishing to visit NOTL. The parking was a bit difficult, as some cars needed to be moved out of the driveway to let others get away, but as we were not in a hurry to leave, it did on matter.

Room Tip: Take time to enjoy the backyard deck in the evening

During a recent visit to this property, my daughter and I had a lovely time, the room was very clean and peaceful. Melody and Don made us very welcome and the breakfasts were great. It was very pleasant sitting around the breakfast table with the other guests and chatting. As we travelled to Niagara on the Lake by train, it was not that far to walk to the town centre and also went to one of the local wineries. We would recommend Silken Dreams to anyone visiting this area. Thank you Melody and Don.

This is a lovely B & B. Comfortable, quiet, clean, delicious breakfasts, genial accommodating hosts. I especially liked being able to sit in the quiet.living room for a few hours to read. This was our first time staying here, my husband and I will stay here again.

Room Tip: The two rooms upstairs are excellent. I didn't see the downstairs room.

I never knew Niagara-on-the-Lake existed until I started planning a road trip and saw it on Google maps. My girlfriend and I were headed to Toronto from Pennsylvania and needed a place to sleep along the way. I chose Silken Dreams because of the stellar reviews here on TA and they absolutely deserve their high rating. By the time we had to leave in the morning for Toronto my girlfriend and I both wished we would have planned to stay longer! We stayed in the Garden room which is on the ground floor. The room was great and the bathroom is very modern, clean, and spacious. For breakfast we were served poached pears and eggs benedict which were outstanding. Don and Melody are truly committed to their b&b and were very helpful and accommodating during our short stay.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any of the rooms here. Choose the garden room if you are unable or have...
