“Great Get-away”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

We spent two comfortable and relaxing nights at this property in late May 2012 and we thoughly enjoyed the experience. The property is beautifully landscaped with a large garden, small pond, deck, patio etc. and the interior is eclectically decorated which creates a low-key ambiance throughout. Being a historic property the bedrooms are small but there is a spacious guest area on the main floor for reading or using your lap top.
Isabelle does an outstanding job with breakfast, local produce is used wherever practical and the end result is mouthwatering breakfast items.
Isabelle is also very knowledgeable of local attivities, restaurants and history and she willingly shares this information. The other guests while we were there were repeat visitors and we shall be sure to visit again.

Our host Isabelle has thought of every detail in this extremely clean B&B. We stayed in early May and grounds of the house were as beautiful as the rooms themselves.

We had 2 exquisite breakfasts again with no missing touches.

I also loved seeing the beautiful tabby cats (Mr. Ginger, etc.) poke his head in from the outside door.

Our two nights at Parliament Cottage were the finale to a very special family holiday, so I wanted it to be really memorable. Being a bit of a foodie, I booked two nights for my family here on the basis of a review that raved about Isabelle's breakfasts, and we were not disappointed. Rather, we were completely blown away. Home baked muffins, delicious and imaginative cooked entrées, and fresh fruit, not to mention the beautifully decorated surroundings. The attention to detail at Parliament cottage is astounding, and made the whole experience a real treat. Having a separate guest lounge is a great facility when you want to relax in the evening, and made it feel like so much more than just a B&B. Also it was wonderful to have space for three of us to share one room. I am so grateful to Isabelle for ensuring that our holiday finished on a real high.

Room Tip: Rideau Hall accommodates three adults comfortably

We are really pleased with our stay at the Parliament, in the heart of the historic district of Niagara-on-the-Lake and a short walk to the main street bar, restaurant and shopping district. Isabelle, the hostess and proprietor made us feel very welcome and provided a lively insight into the local history of this old town. Our room was clean, very comfortable and complete with ensuite and the usual amenities. The general area is well stocked with reading material, comfortable seating and a welcoming fireplace. Breakfast was the proverbial icing on the cake with fresh fruits, juice and a delicious quiche, all in generous portions. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I stayed here with my two adult daughters, it is hard to find a room to accommodate us all, but our room ay Parliament Cottage was perfect. It is a welcoming and lovely place to stay. Isabelle has thought of everything, (guest fridge, flask of iced water, afternoon tea, wine glasses and corkscrew etc) We made use of the lovely lounge and gardens to sit and read or have coffee. It is perfectly placed to visit NOTL, being a few blocks from the main street and a few blocks from the lake. The breakfasts were imaginative, substatial and delicious. We dined one night in a cheap and cheerful diner, which was fine and the golf club the next, which was really good - food service and view. Book this for your stay at NOTL, you will not be disappointed!

It was a our first B&B experience.

Location was not on the main streeet so you can actually have a quiet/leisurely 10-minute walk to the shops. For those coming from the crowded big cities, this might actually be plus.

The basic amenities were provided (private bath & cleanliness were definitely a plus).

Brunch was refreshing.

It was laid back, not over-the-top/on-your-face hosting which is what I pictured a B&B should be. If I expected anything less, I'd go to a motel. Anything more, I'd go to some branded hotel chain.

Definitely a value for money overall for a B&B experience.

I stayed this weekend at the Parliament Cottage with my parents who were visiting from Venezuela and we were absolutely delighted with Isabelle and her beautiful home. The rooms are well kept, immaculately clean and her breakfast is delicious and quite elaborate. The stay was so pleasant and Isabelle taught us so much about the history of the cottage and the area that I feel I learned so much from her company. I highly recommend it and will go back as soon as I get a chance!
