“Beautiful for an overnight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Having driven by the Riverbend Inn on the way to the village of Niagara-on-the-Lake for many years, this time we decided to STAY a bit off the beaten path...and it was well worth it. The Inn is beautiful and Room 211 is spacious, clean, beautifully furnished with one of the few balconies available for guests. I do agree that consideration be given to new mattresses as it's time but other than that, everything was perfect. Dinner at the Inn was enjoyable with prompt, efficent service...the same with breakfast the next morning. We used a package that was offered through Travelzoo and found the value was worth every penny.

The only potential addition....a shuttle to and from the village would have been ideal!! We will be back!

Room Tip: A balconey room adds to the amenities so I'd request one.

A quiet country retreat in an elegant mansion. Our room was very comfortable and inviting. The in-room thermostat controlled gas fireplace warmed up the cooler days of March. The staff were exceptionally hospitable. The food and wine (tasting) experience was excellent. On our first morning there, we were upgraded (complementary) from a continental to a hot breakfast. On the second morning, we received an in-room continental breakfast which exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed a walk along the beautifully scenic waterfront just across the road from the Inn. We were just a short walk/drive to nearby wineries and a very short drive to the village of Niagara-on-the-Lake with it's fascinating history and wonderful shopping. We were gifted with a voucher from friends. The service offered with the voucher was nothing short of wonderful.

Our stay was fantastic. Everything from the extremely comfortable accommodations to the first class restaurant. The food and servers were great. The Inn was old world charm with modern day comforts, including fire places and bath robes. Surrounded by vineyards.
We are definitely going to return here.

My husband and I went to Riverbend for the weekend. We absolutely loved our stay. The room was beautiful and very clean. We stayed in a supreme room. We had two truffles in a pretty dish. That was a nice touch. On the first morning we had our continental breakfast delivered to our room. We had a wine tasting right there with a cheese plate. Very delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is so good! The location is perfect. We were able to run along the path along the river right across the street. It was so beautiful. At the end of the stay, we were given a lovely parting gift of wine, cheese, crackers and truffles. We also received a hand written note. I will definitely recommend the Riverbend Inn to all of my friends.

Beautiful Heritage Inn. Nicely appointed. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Great restaurant with delicious and interesting food choices and of course a good wine listing of their own, and other fine wines.

Room Tip: Superior Room was well worth the up charge.

We've stayed at the Riverbend Inn a number of times over the years, whenever we are eating at Peller Estates Winery. The location is ideal when going to Peller - you literally have a 5 minute walk through the vineyard (on a path) to get there.

The good:
- amazing location and beatiful scenery;
- fantastic heritage building with some great rooms to stay in;
- a lovely boutique hotel with a great restaurant;

The not-so-good:
- the rooms could use a refresh - our bed was overly soft, and the bathrooms are clean but not up to today's high-end hotel standards;
- some rooms are very close to the entrance, and lobby noises are apparent;
- rooms booked through Expedia are NOT advised, as they're not worth the $50 savings (as they're the smallest rooms closest to the lobby).. We had to upgrade our room, as we felt a distinct lack of privacy.

The restaurant is a great "morning after" place, with typically good breakfasts and coffee, although I definitely felt like they were controlling costs by cutting back on staff at our most recent stay.

Overall, it's a lovely place, but I'd like it to be refreshed and I would like the staff to be a bit more "pampering".

We recently stayed with friends on the 2 day mid-week winter package, which included an excellent continental breakfast both days, a $50 dinner credit, and a well appointed room with views overlooking the vineyards. The location offered an easy drive to numerous vineyards, the town, as well as great local dining. We had dinner the second night at Peller Estates and would highly recommend this experience as well, it's right next door to the Inn (short drive or 15 minute walk) The shops in town had deep discounts on their inventory to make way for the busier summer months, so it was nice to spend some money in Canada supporting our local merchants, without having to cross the border. Try the "Ravine" winery for a different experience and excellent wines. We visited five wineries and this was our personal favourite. We also enjoyed our pre-dinner cocktail hour at the bar at the Riverbend Inn.
Highly recommend for a winter getaway!
