“Very pleasant, a bit noisy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

Stayed here for one night while attending a function in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our room was very spacious and immaculately clean, with a very comfortable bed and good-sized bathroom. Excellent location in the heart of the tourist strip. You need to go to the bar downstairs in order to check in, where the staff were very friendly and helpful. Free parking behind the building. My only complaint is that there is some noise from the street/bar, so you may wish to bring earplugs.

We had lunch here during a recent visit and after visits to several wineries. I had the chicken ciabatta sandwich and it was delicious - the Guiness mayo made the sandwich. My boyfriend had the Dublin Steak and Guiness Pie - it wasn't as good...meat was a little try and the pastry was slightly overcooked. My meal and the cozy atmosphere on a dreary day made up for it though.

I've always thought their food is great, and the beer just tastes better here. Their selection is quite vast. We were lucky to find a seat for dinner here on St. Patrick's day and had a great time.

Like other pubs, they do the authentic Irish dishes very well. I wonder why they bother with other items on the menu. Just a block off the main drag, it is a great spot for Niagara locals to frequent and for visitors to sit back and relax with a pint or two. It can get crowded in the evenings. Entertainment is usually pretty good too.

I first visited the Irish Harp as a meeting place for a local group event, I was pleasantly surprised at the neat twist they put on food and the great Irish Harp Ale they have there. The service was very quick and the staff was pleasant and attentive. Since then I gone back many times with my wife and friends and every time we all leave with a satisfied grin on our face. Definitely a favorite in my books!

Nice Irish pub with very good food. Fish and chips are terrific. Guiness on tap. What more would you want? Wish I had a place like this at home.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2010

We booked the two rooms at the front of the building for one night and were delighted to find the rooms are very impressively furnished and of a large size. However, we were disappointed to note that no dusting or hoovering had been done in the rooms at all. While I am sure this is down to a lazy employee rather than the owner, it does not reflect well on the establishment. The jacuzzi bath in our bathroom did not work and the air conditioning unit in the other room gushed water out in the middle of the night. Both unfortunate and easily rectified but for the price of these rooms, we expected a higher quality. We ate in the pub downstairs and had a good meal although the three wines we tried from the wine list were really dreadful. the only other disappointment was that breakfast consists of a voucher to be used at a restaurant some 3kms away. This inn could be absolutely first-rate with a bit more attention to detail.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2006

My husband and I stayed at the Carriage Inn in Dec. of 2004 for one night and found it quite lovely. It was nice to feel like we were the only ones around (like stated in the previous review, you don't see the employees). And we ABSOLUTELY loved hearing the horses trotting by in the morning. Seeing as it's very clost to the Prince of Wales hotel you are very likely to hear the carriages passing by.

The room is spacious and cozy; the jaccuzzi is indeed just a regular tup with jet streams and it's definitely not ideal for 2 people but we still enjoyed it. The fireplace also adds a very nice touch and you have all the basic necessities in the room. Including a mini fridge which was grea.
