“Brilliant location, sensational wines and amazing staff”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Wow! We were visiting the St Catherines area to stay with friends. Flat Rock cellars was recommended to us, and I'm so glad it was!
I know very little about wine, and usually only buy whatever is on offer and is red!
We got to Flat Rock, which has an elevated position looking out across Lake Ontario - the views of the vines were awesome from the shop terrace, then looking further you see the seemingly ocean-like Lake Ontario, with the city of Toronto on the horizon. Even before tasting the wine, we were in heaven!
We were welcomed by Emma, who is an asset to the company. Her knowledge was second to none and her passion for the company and the product was addictive! Emma gave us a tour of the impressive winery, and we enjoyed a tasting of a variety of wines - who knew that that there is a white wine out there that I'd love?! I certainly didn't!!
The small winery is certainly a winner, producing high end products with passionate staff.
Prices are competitive and I defy anyone to leave without a bottle or two of delicious flat rock wine!
Also, the chipmunks that make an appearance in the car park are delightful!!

“Small winery - top quality product, great people and tour”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Flat Rock Cellars is a smaller winery in Lincoln (near St. Catherines) Ontario. Your tour starts in the visitors centre/tasting centre. It's elevated above the vineyard, giving a panoramic view of the vines (and that day of the lightning from the approaching thunderstorm). They deal in quality here. I don't want to spoil it in case you take the tour but they train their vines to only two arms and do all their pruning and harvesting by hand. In the winery they use gravity rather than pumps to move wine between the various stages. They are known for their Pinot Noir. We're not red wine lovers but during the tasting we could understand why this is special and did take a bottle. We also chose two of their whites. The "Twisted" is a nice sipping wine and the Gewurztraminer is a nice wine with many fruit flavours. It's obvious that they take pride in their product and their operation. That extended to our tour guide Emma, who was enthusiastic, showing her knowledge and entertaining at the same time. Hope you are lucky enough to have her show you around (and Emma thanks for the tip on the pecan tarts at our next stop, they were great). Definitely include Flat Rock on your Niagara Winery tour.
