Treadwell – is a great place for dinner. We had a fabulous experience; everything was top notch, from the friendly greeting, to the help from 2 sommeliers, to the wait-staff, to the food and wine. We sat at the bar looking into the kitchen, a lot of fun watching the food being prepared and how the Chef de Cuisine oversaw everything, making sure everything was just right. The wine list is eclectic, including a nice offering of wines by the glass (or half-glass). Being new to the area we tasted two half-glasses of local sparkling wines with nice flavor and sparkle. Homemade bread with an interesting olive oil presentation with baco noir vinaigrette at the bottom. We shared a wonderful Tempura of Local Zucchini Blossoms with a nice Sambal Mayonnaise having just the right amount of spice. The Mains were also delicious, Seared Lake Huron Whitefish with Housemad Sausage, Sweet Corn Veloute and Lobster Fritters; the other the Confit of Lamb Shoulder with Eggplant, Summer Zucchini and Feta Vinaigrette. We sampled several local wines selected by James Treadwell, co-owner and sommelier, a wonderful line-up showcasing some fine wines from the Niagra area. We finished by sharing strawberries with meringue “cookies” and cream, paired with local beer (yes, that really worked). We only wished that Treadwell were closer to us, so we could return…we think it’s “world class”.

I consider myself a foodie and my visit to Treadwell was easily one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Each dish that came out was more delicious than the one previous. First we had the tempura fried zucchini blossoms with a spicy mayonnaise that was almost addictive. Then three of us enjoyed the whitefish with a corn and sausage veloute and lobster fritters (it was difficult to refrain from licking the plate) and one of us had the lamb with a deconstructed ('forked') baked potato (which he said was amazing). We thought it couldn't get any better...until we got dessert. Dark chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream. So good I can't think too much about it or I'll get sad that there isn't one in front of me right now. The menu was truly unique, the quality of the food (can't beat farm-to-table) exquisite and the service top notch. There are clearly lots of restaurant choices in Niagara on the Lake - if you want a meal to remember, visit Treadwell.

“Exquisite Food”

Recommended by our B&B, we enjoyed lunch and dinner. When you experince the best, why go elsewhwre? The heirloom tomato salad is stellar. The charcuterie is fabulous. The wine list is extensive and you can order a bottle and take away what you don't finish.

“Treadwells - Wonderful meal and service!”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Three of us had a wonderful meal at Treadwell's on August 6/13, while visiting the Shaw Festival. The tempura of zucchini flowers with mayonnaise was lightly battered and very hot - perfect. My Italian tomato and mozzarela cheese salad was very good. And the main courses were outstanding. My homemade linguine and steamed PEI mussels had a sauce that complemented it and made me want to lick the plate to ensure I ate it all. My two friends were equally impressed by their main courses of seared Lake Huron whitefish and confit of lamb shoulder. The presentation was artistic. The menus described the meals very well. The local farmers and suppliers were described on the back of the menu - truly farm to table. We didn't have room for dessert - which was too bad - the menu looked wonderful. We did have coffee - I had capuccino and one of my friends had coffee. The capuccino came with a crisp home-made biscotti and the coffee came with home-made macaroons. Both the biscotti and the macaroons were excellent. And the entire meal was served by a professional and professional server. Reservations recommended ... a meal to remember.
