“wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2007

After seeing so many positive reviews on the site, we decided to book at the Harbour House Hotel, and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable. We did not partake of the breakfast, and when one of the staff found out that we only eat kosher, they actually arranged some kosher food for our breakfast! (For those with similar requirements, see chabadniagara.com for information on local kosher fare.) Overall a very relaxing and pleasant stay, we would definitely recommend it.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend at the Harbour House. The room was perfect - sound proof, clean, cute and romantic (although the fancy showers are odd and don't provide fabulous water pressure) but otherwise perfect! The staff was delightful. Our new friend Joesph was kind and professional. When driving us to dinner he gave us a little history tour which was great.

Only a 5 minute walk into town but has a great location next to the lake. Would definitley reccomend it.

My husband surprised me with a lovely night away. I guess he thought we deserved it after having our 2nd child a year ago! The welcome we received was warm and the staff were very accommodating to everything. The dinner at the Charles Inn was out of this world! We had a lovely carriage ride and then back to our welcoming bed at Harbour House. I look forward to returning again. We have highly recommended the Harbour House to our family and friends. Please keep up the fantastic job.

We stayed in this hotel with our 2 teenage boys for one night (on my birthday). The hotel was lovely and the rooms spot on. They were large with great bathrooms. The hotel gave us a room next to the boys tucked away with a shared lobby area which was good. Whilst I stayed in the hotel in afternoon and sampled the wine at the cheese and wine get together (its on everyday!), my family went on the jet boat ride which leaves from the jetty, just two minutes walk away. There are loads of places to have lunch or a drink within walking distance. The hotel recommended somewhere for dinner (The Charles Inn) and even provided transport and pick up. However, the restaurant was not really appropriate for teenagers although the food was lovely and the staff very friendly. The hotel put some birthday treats in the room for me which was nice. Breakfast was a buffet and we all enjoyed it. A lovely hotel for couples. The boys enjoyed it but wouldn't have wanted to stay longer because it didn't have a pool..... a very special hotel

Spent a long weekend at Harbour House recently and, like the myriad of others who have reviewed this property, we would also strongly recommend this hotel. On previous visits to NOL area, we have stayed at the Prince of Wales and the Inn on the Twenty. We would recommend Harbour House over both the other properties. The accommodations appeared to be relatively new and very well maintained and, it is true, the beds are incredibly comfortable. Staff was very pleasant and attentive. Breakfast in the conservatory was very nice - fresh baked goods, salmon, fresh fruit, juices, etc. The property is within walking distance of the "main strip".

Dinner at Zees was "ok" but surely there are other restaurants that would be better in the area. The restaurant itself is quite nice with a large outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, the food looked much better than it tasted.

Dinner at Peller Estates was much better. We've been to Peller for lunch and dinner many times and they have never disappointed us! The food is always great. The restaurant is lovely - particularly the outdoor patio overlooking the vineyard. Service is exceptional.

  • Liked — Most everything.
  • Disliked — Pool or Spa on site would have been nice.

Just back from our first trip to NOTL which we really enjoyed - especially after 2 days of hustle and bustle at Niagara Falls. Especially loved the pretty, comfortable and VERY quiet room (307) we had at the Harbour House. The bathroom with louvered window into the bed area was very luxurious as well.

The Inn is quite new with up to date amenities and decor throughout. Breakfast was very good - plenty of food to start the day. We also really enjoyed sampling local wines at the evening wine/cheese hour and the warm cookies that were always available. Internet access in the open living area was also a plus.
The price was high (we found everything in the Niagara area to be high), but I believe it's true that you get what you pay for so thankfully our stay here lived up to my expectations and I would recommend it to any one (although we felt a bit on the "younger side" during our stay - and we are late 30's).
If you are up for an adventure - try the Whirlpool Jet boat ride at the bottom of the hill - we loved it! You will get soaked though so do it after breakfast then come back and shower!

We ate at Zee's one night before seeing a play at the Shaw theater - it was good but not exceptional. Would have prefered to sit out on the balcony as it looked much more inviting - flies and noise in the dining area were a problem.

Also ate at Old Angel Pub - very authentic British decor/atmosphere and excellent service...had fish and chips - they were ok but I've had better.

  • Liked — peace and quiet; "casual luxury"

My Husband and I have just stayed at the Harbour House for 3 nights and leaving on the 4th day. It is a most extraordinary place to stay! The breakfast is delicious, healthy, home cooked, as are the cookies that make you feel welcome each day. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. This is definitely the place to stay when you are in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
