My family was on a random day-trip to the Niagara region. I was wanting something different from the tourist stuff in Niagara Falls. We decided to stop at Fort George. Our 10 year old son is in love with history, so I thought it would be a great visit for him.
At the gate they gave each of the kids a explorers book for them to locate items throughout the fort. For our son, it was a great treasure hunt (and made him want to explore more). For our daughter (who's 4), she thought it great fun to just run around the wide open spaces. They both enjoyed the chance to see things they may not have seen otherwise.
My only negative was that we were there for 2 hours (it didn't feel like it!!), and suddenly found ourselves been rushed through at the end. The kids were unable to get their "prize" from the gift shop for their explorers books as the shop had closed before we left. I wish that they had waited just a bit longer before closing up shop. Or at least had their hours posted somewhere so we knew how long we had to visit the site.
