This is a lovely little inn. Cozy and cute. No exciting amenities to write about, but we weren't looking for anything like that. Just a comfortable place to sleep. And it was comfortable!! Those beds are wonderful. And the location cannot be beat. Walking distance to shops, park, lake.

But the very best....the staff are so sweet. Everyone we encountered was friendly and very pleasant to deal with. Genuine smiles. They jump up to open a door when you are carrying luggage. It was such a breath of fresh air. I'll definitely be back.

Enjoyed the comfort - the bed was soo comfortable! Room comfy cozy and quiet. Enjoyed listening to the birds and church bells in the morning. Right across the street from the park and the Catholic Church - which was convenient for our Easter stay. Staff was very accomodating. Great that we could enjoy the salt water pool at the Prince of Wales as well!

This was a great place to stay in NOTL. It's right on the main drag, about a block away from the really busy stretch of Picton Street. Across the street from a park. That means it's quiet, but steps away from the bars and restos.

My room was about $130 per night, included a gas fireplace, and a nice sitting area with sofa and chair. They also have free wireless internet in the rooms.

It's owned by the same company (Vintage Hotels) that owns the big fance NOTL hotels (The Prince of Wales etc.) but is much cheaper. I don't know why you'd pay twice as much to stay in one of their big-named hotels, when this place is just as nice. Victorian charm.

I've recommended this place to many people. Several times, strangers outside the hotel asked me about it and said how they wish they'd booked there instead of where they were staying.

There is a restaurant, but I didn't try it.

We were only able to stay for one night as we were passing through the area on our way to Toronto. Wish it could have been longer. This is a great little spot that is conveniently located within easy walking distance of main street, theatres, waterfront, park etc. We parked our car when we got to town and never moved it until we left town. We will definitely come back and hope to stay for a much longer visit next time. We had a cozy little fireplace room on the first floor with a nice patio.

A wonderful place. We stayed two nights, a different room each night. The staff moved our luggage from the first to the second room. Both rooms were relatively small but extremely cozy, clean, and altogether comfortable. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms clean. The inn has parking in the back. It is conveniently located on the main street (Queen Street), within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and theaters. The staff was very helpful and attentive. I would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed two nights. We booked 6 weeks in advance and because it was the Labour Day weekend, rooms were filling up fast. Our room with a queen bed was extremely small; about 14' x 10', not including the bathroom. It faced the back of the inn (called a garden). The room was priced reasonably considering the rates at the Vintage Inns (Prince of Wales). For our purposes, it was fine.
The bed and pillows made for an enjoyable sleep -- very comfortable.
We would have preferred a garden room on the main floor with an outdoor patio, but these were booked.
We came for the Noel Coward marathon of 10 plays at the Shaw Festival. We could walk to all three theatres and downtown shops. We especially enjoyed walking to the lake. The Inn is directly across from beautiful Simcoe Park. If you want to leave your car, this is the place to stay. Except for the small room size, we enjoyed our stay.
As for restaurants, there are many. If you want a great breakfast, go to the Stagecoach Restaurant on the corner of Queen and Regent Streets.
Next time, we'll bring our bikes. There is a beaultiful trail along the Niagara River.

The Moffat is a comfortable inn located within easy walking distance of all 3 Shaw Festival venues and the shopping/dining district.

This property was recently acquired by the Vintage Hotels group (which owns several other expensive properties in NOTL) and is no longer the friendly mom-n-pop establishment it used to be. The prices have gone up and (it seems to me) their policies have gotten more rigid. I recently had to cancel a reservation (with over 3 months' notice) and was told my deposit (required to be made by personal check) could only be issued in Canadian funds! The resulting conversion and other fees cost me 8% of the deposit amount. Unless you're sure your plans will never change, look for a property that accepts credit cards for deposit and issues refunds in the original currency.
