We stayed at the White Oaks Spa and Resort when we visited Niagara Falls because we got a great deal through Expedia. We chose not to eat a the hotel restaurant because it was REALLY expensive. A bagel with cream cheese was $5.50! We searched on google, and found the Good Eats Diner only about 3-4 minutes away from the resort. The Internet reviews were a mixed bag, with several negative ones. Some people said that the service was slow and inattentive, some said that the food was bad, and others said the place was run down. We didn't find any of that to be true. The place was small, but clean. The waitress and the staff were nothing but friendly and accommodating, and the food was decent and what you'd expect from a diner. The diner only takes cash, and being silly Americans, we hadn't bothered to exchange any currency because we figured that we would charge everything to get better exchange rates through the credit card company. The diner was more than happy to take US Dollars without any fuss or muss, even though the place wasn't near the Falls. How's THAT for service?

As for the food, it was pretty good for the most part. The home fried potatoes were tasty and tender, the toast was thick cut and done well, and the eggs were cooked like we ordered. The only item that was sub-par was the omlet. It was flat rather than fluffy, and cooked on a griddle that was too hot, so it was browned too much on the outside. But it tasted just fine. The milk cartons in Canada seem to be much larger than in the US - usually they come in 1 cup (8 oz) sizes in fast food places like McD's. But the diner gave us pint sized (16 oz - or a similar size in metric units) cartons, which were large. The diner wasn't the only place that gave us the pint sized milks - there was at least one other place we ate at that did that. That might be a regular practice in Canada, though our experience with that is limited.

Over all, this was a decent place, with friendly service, and competent diner food. Perhaps our expections were modest, but happily, our experience was not consistent with the bad reviews on the Internet.
