Food, service and price are always very good here, with a lovely view of Lake Ontario, the Niagara river and the golf course.

“lovely lakeside dining”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2011

Our B&B hosts recommended this restaurant for its
good food and service, relaxed atmosphere and lovely view
of the lake from the dining room or outdoor patio.
Good value, prompting us to return a second time with
other visitors.

“Beautiful golf course!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2011

We went to Royal Niagara for the day to golf and had a great time! The staff is very helpful and the course if absolutely beautiful. Even if you play a lousy game of golf the scenery is breathtaking. Worth the drive!

“Excellent but TOUGH”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2011

Played Royal Niagara over the weekend for a discounted rate through golfnow.com. Despite the recent wet conditions the course was in good condition although it was cart path only for the buggy.

Clubhouse and practice facilities
Clubhouse is welcoming with lovely views over the course, there is a restaurant on the upper floor and a cafe/half way house downstairs next to the pro shop. There is an excellent practice facility with range, putting green, practice chipping green with bunkering.... All great for you to prepare to go out on the course.

Course has three sets of 9 holes. I played the Iron Bridge and the Escarpement. First impression when you see the course is... Wow pretty open with not many trees, this looks like a good scoring course!

How wrong I was. The lack of mature trees is more then made up for by strategically placed bunkering/ditches/lakes/tall grass and the rough is very penal for a stray tee shot!

The greens are really what makes the course tough though. Considering the winter we have had and the recent rain the greens were fast, tough to read with many subtle breaks that were hard to see....

If you play there; select which tee's you play carefully, if you make the right choice you will have a great day... but remember your hard work starts when you get on the greens!

“Royal Niagara - Bring your A Game”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2010

Pros and Cons - first the Pros: Good service, easy to locate, nice clubhouse, yardage markers were generally easy to find.
Cons: Without your best game and a very low handicap this course is very punitive. Water, fescue, brush and clover, all these elements conspire to snatch and never release your ball if it strays from the fairway. It is target golf and the target is frequently very small. The overall condition of the course in mid-July was 5 on a scale of 1-10 and the play of indifferent golfers had left many scars on both fairways and greens.

Plenty of better courses in the Niagara area.
