“Great steak & kidney pie”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2011

After reading the reviews we originally decided to try The Irish Harp, however it was very hot inside, and one of the staff wasn't too friendly, so we decided to give The Angel a try instead. It was just like any busy English pub (not Fri / Sat so no band) with the noise of people talking......
There were 4 staff and they were all very friendly, despite a large number of people all arriving at the same time. They ensured everyone had drinks then the food appeared very quickly, so pre-made, but totally delicious. Quite simply the best steak & kidney pie we've ever had.

“Horrible food and service... Its a wonder they have lasted this long...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 16, 2011

Atmosphere was charming, the food not so good. I had ordered their signature dish; the 12oz Prime rib. The food took almost 30 mins to arrive. I had noticed that a couple of patrons had been seated and served the exact same thing before us. There was approx about 5oz of inedible fat. The waitress did not check back on us to make sure that everything was fine. Upon finishing the dinner, the waitress did not even cl;ear away our dishes and brought the check. We wanted to sit and relax and have a coffee and was not even offered the option. needless to say, there was no tip. Horrible experience, will not be going back and will be letting others know of my experience. There are other pubs and restaurants in NOTL, with better food and better service...

“Great food, good pub atmosphere for almost 200 years”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2010

Went for lunch here last month, have been before and we are always impressed. Although the town of Niagara-on-the- Lake was busy we managed to get a table right away. They have a good selection of items on their menu to satisfy anyone. Plenty of different draft and bottled beer; as we had tasted enough wine at this point in our tour of wineries. Service was attentive and quick. We had our meals in a short time. All four of us thought our food was very good and we will definetely return in the future.

“The fun and friendly place to be in NOTL.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2010

Ate here a few years ago and loved it. Arrived solo on the Friday afternoon after a Shaw Festival performance. No wait for my table. Waitress was prompt in taking my drink order. Ordered my dinner with the prompt arrival of my beer. My dinner arrived within 5 minutes of ordering! Ordered Guinness steak and onion pie with fries and vegetables. Pie was to die for. The fries and the vegetables were both crisp and hot. Half-way through my dinner, my new waitress (change of shifts) was just as efficient and friendly as the first. All in all, a nice, casual, unhurried dinner. If you are looking for a meal to fit your budget, come here. The locals, young and old, eat here. I was told that one elderly gentleman comes from Pennsylvania once a month just for dinner. If you are looking for a fun and friendly place for lunch or dinner in NOTL with an authentic "loud" English Pub-type atmosphere, the Olde Angel Inn is the ticket.
