Colaneri Estate Winery

Owner description: Colaneri is a new family-owned and operated winery that hand-harvests the finest grapes to produce premium VQA award-winning wines from its surrounding vineyards. Most of the wines are made with the traditional Italian appassimento style of drying grapes, including a large portfolio of red, white and dessert wines. A new series has been introduced, made in the “recioto” style of making dessert wines. The winery is built in the Romanesque style featuring a captivating panoramic view of the vineyard and escarpment atop the St. David’s Bench appellation. The wine tasting bar overlooks the production area, allowing visitors to see the process. We, La famiglia Colaneri, are always on hand to share the experience and the passion that went into the making of our wines and our winery.

This new vineyard has produced some wonderful wine. It is a family-run operation, and if all the family are as beautiful as the young lady who served me, they should patent their DNA.

This is one of Niagara on the Lake newer wineries. Great reds and gracious service. This winery is run by a family and you can really feel everybody's involvement and their love of working with costumers.

Colaneri was our last winery of the day and we pulled in on a whim. The drive up the lane as you appoach a sprawling building is breathtaking, but it does not compare to the wine you will taste inside. By far, we tasted the smoothest cabernet of our lives. As we completed our tasting flight, which was really reasonable...$5 for 2 whites, 2 reds and an icewine, the staff explained each wine in depth in terms the non -wine connoisseur could understand. Another great thing- the $5 tasting fee is waived with the purchase of a bottle of wine.

Its a family winery, and the new facility is pretty impressive, as a banquet facility (which it also is.) It's been made to look like an old building in Italy. That's a good anology for the wine too. It's been made to look like a great wine.
