We enjoyed lunch in the charming tea house, guided tour of 1812 home and lovely gardens. A pleasant two hours.

A Taste of History, a Sip of Tea. A garden of herbs and bright canary, scarlet and purple flowers greeted us as we walked toward a 19th century adventure, a cup of tea and just-baked scones with current jelly and fresh whipped cream.
Afternoon tea includes choice of tea/coffee or soft drink, and an assortment of homemade, fresh-baked pastries. Enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, homemade scones, and homemade fresh sweets. Choose from 37 types of premium tea, homemade iced teas, homemade lemonade, and fresh brewed coffee. The McFarland House Tea Room is also licensed with a lovely wine list.
Here, period-dressed waitresses, kitchen staff and tour guides help bring to life the world of Scottish-born John McFarland, his wife and their nine children.
The house’s association with the War of 1812 and its use as headquarters for British Officers, the location of British and American Artillery battalions protecting the Niagara River and a field hospital for American and British solders. There are tour that can be taken to visit the House. but we entered through a small kitchen and gift shop where tea, delicate China cups and saucers, and finely painted teapots are lined up on bookcases, smells of chocolate, spice and honey mingle with the flower-scented summer air, to enter the Tea Room, and enjoy what we were there for, our afternoon Tee, an experience to no miss

We arrived at McFarland House just after a tour had started, so went instead into their tea room, where we had a very enjoyable lunch. The room has windows across two sides with pleasant views. They have a wide selection of tea, which we had with scones. We also had their soup of the day, a delicious squash soup, Many salads, sandwiches and other items were listed on the menu, and we saw one table enjoying the strawberry and rubarb pie, the special of that day. One can choose to have a full English tea as one of the choices. The waitresses, dressed in costumes, were helpful and explained all the choices, including describing the flavors of several of the tea choices we were considering. Other beverages, such as fresh lemonade, were also on the menu. The atmosphere in the tea room was relaxed and unhurried. We'll return on another visit when we have more time and tour the historic home.

While driving through the Niagara Parks in Canada we discovered the McFarland House, and stopped in for lunch. We did not tour the house but the lunch was great! and the service was good and the people friendly! The view from the dining area made you sit back and relax. If in the park do stop by for site seeing and lunch.
