My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for many years, long before we moved to the area. It has one of the best views in Old Town and has a great patio to sit out on in the summer. We've enjoyed many a sangria and beer out there. We've brought out-of-town friends there on a number of occasions and they've always been impressed with both the view and the food. We have had the odd meal that wasn't up to standard but that's bound to happen when you go to a place so often. One of our favourite spots to sit and relax with a drink and something to eat.

The NOTL Golf Club restaurant is on the river directly across from Fort Niagara, offering the best view in town, through spacious windows surrounding the dining room. The food is excellent, as are the service and ambience. Servers appreciate that many diners are rushing to plays and accommodate them with exceptional service. Wine and food prices are among the most reasonable for high quality fare in NOTL. If you like liver and onions, this is the place to eat. The extensive wine list offers Ontario wines exclusively. Menu items change daily.

Our innkeepers (Hoppy’s B&B) recommended the clubhouse to us since we were looking for a scenic view for dinner, which is by the way rare in the area!
From the patio you can see Toronto on a clear day, Fort Niagara on the US lake side and the many sailing boats that cruise Lake Ontario.

Besides the beautiful scenery the golf club offers a really delicious menu, which you can enjoy inside the clubhouse or on the patio. It contains a tasteful fare of sandwiches, salads, and a few larger entrees like fish and chips or rib-eye steak. My favorites for sure are the chicken, brie and cranberry wrap and the pulled pork sandwich.

Next to local microbrews the restaurant serves wine from the surrounding vineyards such as Reif and Between the lines. Overall a nice casual hang-out beside the more touristy and higher priced Queen Street.

+ scenic view,
+ good clubhouse fare and local brews,
- can get noisy on the patio since some people are unable to get up without pushing the metal chairs over the floor forever

Average price for an entrée: CAN $15-20.

I had been looking forward to the Beef Pot Pie and was disappointed when I was told they had run out. :( The service was very attentive after an initial wait. It's not an extensive menu but the items we sampled were all very good. We all had fish dishes and the soup of the day. Everything was very good, especially the Maple Butternut Squash soup. It may also have been the most tender and juicy fish and chips I have ever eaten.

There was a golf tournament on that day, so the non-tournament restaurant goers were restricted to the lounge. There were people turned away. The view outside the windows was absolutely lovely. I'm not sure if the patio was available that day or not.

We would return.

The food and service are good, but if the weather is nice you can't beat the view of the Niagara River and Fort Niagara
