If you wand a serious high tea experience, the offerings at the Prince of Wales Hotel likely matches the best that England has to offer. Out of this world scones, jam, other delicious spreads, tasty tea/finger sandwiches, etc. for the palate's finest pleasure. And a handsome choice of teas, including one of my favorites, Masala, as good as found in India. We spent a dreary rainy afternoon enjoying these delights. What a wonderful way to defeat mother nature's annoyances by imbibing such superb snacks. Left no room for dinner, a situation we certainly did not mind. And, both the furniture and silver serving pieces befit the mood of 19th century England, just to add to the beauty of the ambiance.

Having enjoyed afternoon tea at the Windsor Arms I was wanting to try afternoon tea here. Even thought it was over a two hour drive we were willing to attend as I have alays wanted to try this hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and generally speaking the tea was "ok". However I did notice that the silverware they used (creamer) had black drippings dried all down the side of the silver. Several other pieces also were not cleaned properly and this added an unwelcome disappointment to the experience. If you go to the trouble to use real silver then it needs to be serviced properly or dont bother. I dont think guests want to see black polish dripping all over the containers that house food and beverage.I prefer teh Windsor Arms for aftrnoon tea

My husband and I treat ourselves a couple times a year to High Tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel. From the moment you are welcomed to the Drawing Room till the final sip of tea it is a truly lovely experience that is a must if you are in Niagara on the Lake for a visit. There are a variety of teas and finger food selections to choose from that are presented in the style of a forgotten time. If you are a fan of the PBS drama Downton Abby, you’ll feel like you’re sitting in the Grantham home sipping tea with royalty.

The presentation is top notch, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is relaxing. For our last three visits we have been lucky enough to have Grace as our Server. She always remembers us and welcomes us back, does a fantastic job with presentation and clearing our table, is always friendly, and represents the best of the best at The Prince of Wales. Simply put each customer is made to feel special, appreciated and welcome. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend High Tea at the Prince of Wales or better yet, treat yourselves to a weekend escape…the hotel itself is GORGEOUS!!!!!

Say hello to Grace for us and have a fantastic time!

We loved the decor and the richness of history of this building and the food was nothing less than excellent. From our soup and salad to our entree and then coffee and dessert, we couldn't be more pleased. We come here every time we travel to Canada from the US.

A colleague from home told me I had to visit the Prince of Wales Hotel for afternoon tea when we came to Niagara and so we set off we empty stomachs to do just that. After the trashy appearance of Niagara Falls establishments, Niagara on the Lake is such a treasure and only a 30 minute drive away. The heritage listed buildings in the town are a delight and the Prince of Wales is no exception, being reminiscent of stately homes and hotels in England. As we were there in the off season, there were only two other tables occupied for afternoon tea and we were asked whether we would like to sit in the cosy room with the open fire or in the glass encased conservatory. We chose the latter and it was such a delightful setting in which to partake of the delicious sandwiches and cakes, plus giant scones with jam and cream which arrived on a three tiered plate stand. There were eleven different teas on offer and my husband and I chose different blends so we received a large pot each. The crockery is Wedgewood and the napery thick starched linen, adding to the English feel of the place. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and when we couldn't finish all our food, offered to put the rest in a box to take away with us. We did that and were able to enjoy the rest of our tasty morsels later in the evening. We definitely didn't need any dinner that night so at $33 each, it proved to be value for money. Also available for afternoon tea is a selection of wines and cheeses so that would make for an even more substantial meal.
