“Queens & Prince better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

My friend and I have stayed at all of these sister hotels over several years and we prefer the other two properties in niagara on the lake. This was our first stay at the Pillar and Post. Although our male server (cant remember his name) was great, we found the wine selections of poor quality and the sommelier had no idea what she was talking about. The accommodations we quite good, the spa lovely and even the lounge was fun. If you stay here and are planning to have a fine dining experience, just dine at one of the other two properties and your money will be well spent.

Although all our sister properties are all different experiences they truly do deliver on great service. Please be assured that we will take your comments and use them to improve training, wine knowledge and service . Pleae try us again on your next visit. I promise we will not let you down.

My husband and I spent a night @ the Piller and The Post recently with two other couples. We are all seasoned travellers and familiar with service standards found in boutique/ luxury hotels. From the onset, we were thoroughly disappointed with our experience. There was no offer to take care of our luggage, we were not informed of the Dinner supplement package available ($60 pp) if we chose to dine at one of the Vintage establisments, it was never mentioned or suggested we should book any spa treatments immediately as they fill up for the following day, and the closing time of the buffet breakfast was incorrectly given (thus, one of the couples missed it). The terrible customer service continued on when early evening I called down to the Front Desk to inquire about shuttle service availability. I was not greeted with the customery "Good evening Mrs. 'Blank'" which is standard in other fine hotels but after a brief exchange, was actually asked if I was a guest at the hotel! How she could not have known this is questionable. Thank goodness our dinner at the Queen's Landing was spectacular and our server, Jill, was not only informative and attentive but a true delight!
We were also not impressed by the 'looks' of the hotel -- the carpets are stained, the wall treatments marked and drab, the furniture is 'old' looking and the fake plants/shrubery around the pool/ spa reception is beyond tacky. We also discovered that all three of couples - on the same hotel package - received different quantities of wine in our respective rooms. It could not be explained why we received one (which was outlined as part of the package) and the others received 2 bottles, and 3 bottles respectively. All in all, I would give our experience a 2/5 in terms of hospitality & experience. My recommendation is book elsewhere!

Thank you so much for the detailed review. It is very helpful and we will certainly take all your comments and review them. It is reviews such as yours that allow us to improve. We have just recently updated 76 Bathrooms through out the property and all the bedroom carpets are new in 2011. The exterior pool was recently updated with 100 fountain pool side water feature added. We will be also looking to do further updates in 2012 and 2013 as we do every year and will keep your comments in review. We will certainly look to see what improvements can be made in the interior pool area. We recently refurbished the pool inside and our tropical trees will have fresh and real plantings surrounding them very shortly based on your comments. Thank you again for your candid review.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our Anniversary and it was wonderful. The hotel is very charming and the service is wonderful. The food at the restaurant in the hotel is very tasty and portions are large. The spa was awesome. The hotel is also close enough so you can walk to town but far away to be at peace. We plan to go back next year. I recommend getting the ulimate romance package which includes 1 dinner and 2 breakfasts at the hotel plus a carriage ride, wine and chocolates. Very happy.

I stayed at the Pillar and The Post for one day. They allowed us to check in early to use the pools which was great. They took care of our luggage and were helpful. We decided to use the pool/bar restaurant for lunch. The service was terrible. I had to find a waitress in the bar, it took over an hour for salads to arrive. It was a great day and we would of loved a second drink by the pool but unfortunately the service was really bad.

The rooms were nice, room service breakfast was great. I would return, but would stop for lunch before checking in.

The shuttle driver was great, they drove us to our concert at Jackson Triggs and picked us up. Great service!

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room, the nice tables outside the rooms are nice to enjoy a glass of wine or...

Went here for a night with my girlfriend and I have to say it had its charm when you first see it, the room was really nice 5 star for sure! But the lounge and restaurant are really bad, serve the same quality food as a Denny's family restaurant, the spa was nice but really could do better on the up keep of the fake hot water spring what a joke that is! Premium price for a average place!

Always a pleasure to stay at the Pillar and Post. The accomodations are only surpassed by the gracious and helpful personnel. We have stayed here at least 8 times and it is consistantly wonderful. The proximity to the town and theaters make it a perfect place to stay.

My wife and I (mid 20s proffessionals) had our wedding ceremony here last year, and both of our families haven't stopped gushing about the facilities, service, and food of the event. We loved our time at the post so much that we recently spent our 1st anniversary there, again, we fabulous service. Although pricey, the food is fantastic, especially the morning buffet style breakfast. Also, if you're looking to up the romance, pay the spa a visit during the late hours of the evening to relax in their waterfall jacuzzi. Overall, this is one of the finer places I've stayed in over the years, and we look forward to visiting the post on a annual basis to celebrate our anniversary!
