“A good hotel”
Reviewed August 4, 2010

Tripadvisor doesn't give an option between Average and Very Good. In my opinion, this hotel is in the middle - it is good. It has a wide range of facilities, our room was well equipped and clean, I enjoyed all the food I had here, and the service was friendly and helpful too.

Its about 20 mins drive to Niagara Falls and 20 mins drive to the Queen Street - the main tourist street in Niagara on the Lake.

I was staying here for a wedding and half our group stayed at the nearby Garden Hilton. All agreed that this hotel was better that the Hilton.

A criticism is when front desk booked a taxi well in advance to take us to the wedding. It was late and we were going to be late. We asked front desk when the taxi was going to arrive - they rang up and advised us the taxi was on its way but couldn't say where. In an age of cell phones and radio, I find this hard to believe. The hotel need a more reliable taxi service.

Travellers Ages: 25 - 60 yrs.

The White Oaks is a very nice hotel with very friendly staff. We planned to spend a few days down in the Niagara area...falls one day, shopping in Buffalo another day and Niagara on the Lake on the last day. This hotel was extremely convenient - it was right off the highway and there was a road just outside the front door that takes you directly into Niagara on the Lake.
PROS: The hotel was very clean, the rooms were large and modern, the pool was really nice after a long day of walking and the fitness facilities looked spectacular!
CONS: The beds were a bit hard, there was a lack of dining in the area and even though we got a deal on the room, it was still very pricey.
It is a nice and quiet hotel and we had driven by it numerous times and wanted to check it out...but I doubt we will be going back. I'm glad we decided to stay but for the cost, we will be staying in Niagara Falls from now on.

Without a doubt this visit was one of the BEST that I have ever experienced.

From the personal contacts, with all of the Staff members, to the clean, comfortable
rooms to beauty of the gardens..words certainly cannot fully express the visual and
tranquil experience of my visit.

Kudos to all employees of the White Oaks Resort who were the dessert of a wonderful
dinner. (The icing on the cake) KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

We were looking forward to a weekend at this resort & spa hotel… and were greatly disappointed.
1. Club membership is included in the room rate (but additional $ 10.00 per day applies on the invoice).
2. Fridge in the room is packed with drinks for sale. There is no place in the fridge to put your own drinks. If you move anything you’ll get charged !!
It seems that the fridge in the room has not been put there for use by the guests, but to generate more sales for the hotel. We purchased bottles of wine, which we had to keep outside the fridge. The concierge was contacted, but could not help, accept to worn us not to move anything that is already in the fridge.
3. Additional charge for Saturday night has been added to our final bill without our authorization.
4. The 5-star, 4-diamond restaurant on premises LIV was a great disappointment as well.

We stayed at the Resort on July 4th and got a great rate. Let me start w/ the good - the hotel is nice - large, clean rooms including a huge bathroom and very nice shower. The pool is large and the fitness center is top notch. If you are staying at the resort and that is all you want to do, then this is the place for you.

Now the bad - this hotel is neither here nor there - it's in the middle of nowhere. Directly off of the highway, it doesn't have resort feel at all. Location is advertised as Niagara on the lake, but you have to drive 20+ minutes to get to the actual Niagara on the Lake and 20+ minutes to get to the Falls. If you are visiting the Falls for the first time, this is NOT the place to stay - either stay at a hotel like Sheraton on the Falls or a Bed and Breakfast at Niagara on the Lake.

My two cousins and I spent the night at White Oaks, thoroughly enjoying the "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" package. We experienced a very relaxing afternoon at the Spa where the staff consistently demonstrated their total commitment to customer satisfaction, often going "above and beyond" to make us feel totally pampered! Our dinner that evening in LIV was outstanding. The food presentation is something to see and the taste is to die for! Our suite was very spacious and the beds were so comfortable! In the morning, our leisurly breakfast was just as outstanding as our dinner had been the previous night !On a separate occasion, my husband and I also spent the night at WhiteOaks while attending the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake and found the atmosphere perfect for a romantic getaway! We're returning this August! I highly recommend White Oaks! The entire staff is dedicated to pleasing those who visit!

Beautiful hotel, with marvelous gardens and facilities, however we were very dissapointed by customer service level of this hotel which is well below North American standards for the room price. I won't go into all of the unfortunate details, but in general i felt that the reception staff was really not interested in satisfying our reservation requests.

To get some form of satisfaction which came in the form of a few free drinks and breakfast coupons, i had to escalate our dissatisfaction up to the manager on duty. He did his best to put a plan together to meet our room expectations, but the plan did not get executed by a dissapointing desk staff later during our stay.

This hotel has lots of potential, but lacks a well trained staff...and this is simply not acceptable by my standards for the price i paid for my room.
