“Lovely Weekend”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

My husband & I love to spend a day at Niagara-on-the-Lake once or twice a year and have always wanted to stay at the Prince of Wales so, to get a break from winter, we booked a weekend in March 2013. The hotel is magnificent, but what really makes it worth the stay are the people who work there. From Kate, who welcomed us at check-in and made sure our every need was looked after, to Fred, whose unbelievable knowledge of wine ensured that we had the perfect bottle to accompany our amazing meal in the Escabèche, to Dan, who made our breakfast special - they truly make you feel important and pampered. We were a little disappointed in our room, which was a superior king - there was nothing wrong with it, we were just expecting something more elegant. The bed, which was probably one of the most comfortable I've been in, and the lovely rose on our pillow when we returned from dinner made up for it though. Our short stay did not allow us time to check out the spa or pool facilities so I can't offer any insight there. All-in-all, we had an unforgettable stay and would highly recommend the Prince for a special get-away!

My wife and I visited Niagara-on-the-Lake at the end of February 2013, which is very much off-season here. The lack of crowds allows the qualities of the hotel staff to really stand out. We were treated as if we were the only ones there, and literally everyone went out of their way to accommodate us. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging dinner reservations at not only Vintage Hotel properties, but also at the Peller Estates winery, and gave us tickets for complimentary wine tasting at several locations around town. They also arranged a wine trolley tour where we were the only passengers. By the end of our short three-day stay, we felt that the staff knew us personally because they had taken so much time to talk to us.

The hotel itself is a great Victorian building with incredible detail. The Churchill Lounge is a great place to just relax and read a book. The suite we stayed in was large and comfortable. The nightly turndown service with a rose on the bed and music playing is a great touch. The hotel is within walking distance to all of the shops and cafes in downtown NOTL.

Room Tip: Call the hotel to make a reservation -- a lot of the rooms are non-standard, so if you want particul...

We wanted someplace quiet and elegant for a quick weekend getaway and this really fit the bill. The deluxe suite was exactly as advertised, and all the staff at the hotel could not have been more friendly and helpful! If you want to splurge a little, I highly recommend this first-class hotel.

One note to U.S. visitors, however: your mobile service will be 'roaming' while here -- if you need internet access, you'll have to pay to use the hotel's wireless network. For the cost and otherwise deluxe accommodations of the hotel, I would not have expected to pay extra for this.

The lush accommodations and the pampering we received from the very attentive staff made our stay very enjoyable. Highest compliments to Natalie, Cooper, Siobahn and Amanda for taking such good care of us.
The massages we had in the spa were the most relaxing and added to a very enjoyable stay.
One small disappointment; while the swimming pool and sauna were in good order, the hot tub was out of order during our stay...

Upon arrival at the Prince of Wales in Niagara-on-the-Lake we were greeted 'enthusiastically'. The staff tried hard but did not quite come across as genuine. As is often the case I fell for the 'upgrade', for a 'room with a fireplace overlooking the main street', for just $50 more. My mistake. The room did feature one of these electric fireplaces which had not been turned on in recent times because as soon as we 'flicked the switch' to turn it on the entire room smelled dusty, uncomfortable. And the view, not so great as it overlooked a side street through smallish windows which had not been cleaned in some time. Generally, the room could have used some fresh air, some more natural light. It had a very small anteroom where the fireplace was and a sofa where one could watch TV, not very comfortably. (Problem was that the quality / reception of the TV was rather poor.) The 'royal bed' (big bed with posts that reached to the sky and which required two steps to climb) was comfortable enough and the bathroom was clean, well lit and had all necessary amenities. An ok stay but 'no royal touch'.

Room Tip: The 'upgrade' to the fireplace is not worth the extra cost.

The hotel is beautiful and the service on the day of the wedding was spectacular. The food was definitely a highlight of the event - everyone was talking about it! Our bridal suite was big and very comfortable.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I have travelled from India to Australia and I can honestly say that the service at this hotel is the best. The front desk's manager Kate really goes out of her way to make sure every guest is really taken care of. We go every year just to spoil ourselves. This hotels puts othere to shame

Room Tip: Take a room in the main hotel
