“Treated like Royalty!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

My boyfriend and I went here during the week for a romantic getaway. Upon arrival, Cooper at the front desk welcomed us very sincere and nice, and upgraded us to an executive suite! Cooper was great, offering to take our photos, being extremely friendly, and just making sure we had the best time we could there. We both appreciate how he made it such a special time for us. And we were so excited to be upgraded..it was a wonderful experience! They even left a rose on the bed for me..such a nice treat! I felt so special! All the staff were very polite and attentive. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, and very clean. Felt like home! I even left my necklace there and they were great at retrieving it for me without any hassles. We will definitely go again and hopefully get Cooper again! We ate at the Churchill Lounge and they food is fabulous. Highly recommended..it is well worth the money!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms with a fireplace are always nice!

We stayed at the Prince of Wales January 25 - 27, 2013. My boyfriend has been to this hotel many times before however it was my first time. When we had booked the hotel for the weekend I was a bit apprehensive as it was a lot money. After staying at the Prince of Wales I knew it was worth every penny. It was wonderful. We checked in with Katie was she just amazing throughout our whole stay. She checked us in quickly made all of our reservations for dinner and afternoon tea. We were very impressed with her service. We had reserved the King suite with the fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The room was beautifully decorated and super clean. The hotel was lovely, the shops in the village was great. Everything was just so beautiful and we had an amazing experience. We will definitely have to go back during the Shaw festival.

Any time of year, is a great time to stay at the Prince of Wales. However, my husband and I truly enjoy spending a weekend in mid-winter. The streets, restaurants and bars are uncrowded. The village is especially beautiful with a nice coating of snow. Our trips to Niagara on the Lake always include a room at the Prince of Wales, high tea in the tea room, swimming in the hotel indoor pool, a visit to the hotel spa and dinner and music at the Angel Inn. You can't go wrong staying at the Prince of Wales!

Room Tip: You can request a room with a fireplace, but you are not always guaranteed a room with a fireplace...

Just came back from the Icewine Festival in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. My GF and I stayed at the Prince of Wales Hotel. We purchased the room and added breakfast and dinner to the package.

The hotel itself is quite stunning. It was built in the early 1800s and it has been kept as traditional as possible. With that said, it isn't old and musty either. It is very inviting, clean, and elegant. I loved the look and feel of the place.

The service was amazing no matter where we were (front desk, Escabeche for dinner or breakfast). Cooper greeted us at the front desk and immediately offered to upgrade us to a park view suite. We accepted even though it was an extra $50 (yes, we got upsold). It was well worth it though just for the fireplace!

He also hooked us up with a few tastings as well. I can't thank him enough for that. It really made a difference in our trip. Thanks, Cooper!

Breakfast was delicious. We had the option of the buffet or ordering off the menu which had some really unique breakfast foods. Thank you, Kerri!

Dinner was top shelf -service and food! Escabeche has a really unique menu and it pays to be a little adventurous. We had constant service for every thing we wanted. I have never been treated so kindly at dinner.

The hotel has an indoor pool and a hot tub which we used as well. That was a nice winter bonus.

The location of the hotel on the strip is perfect. We were able to shop, bar hop and enjoy local fare without the risks of driving. Perfect!

We will definitely be back.

Cons: Just a few things of note. Even purchasing a package, the dinner is quite expensive. All told we spent $240+ on dinner (app, dinner, wine, icewine, dessert, gratuity). There are several restaurants within walking distance that are far less upscale should you desire. Same for breakfast. That's it!

Having stayed at the Prince of Wales several times over the last few years, it remains one of the few hotels that I continue to visit, time after time, due to its excellent service. I love to change things up and keep things fresh, but, when it comes to NOTL, the staff at the Price of Wales make it impossible to stay elsewhere.

It all begins at the front desk, with the fantastic team of Cooper, Bobbi, and, Katie. Always jovial, professional, and accommodating, they are some of the first faces you see when you arrive at the hotel, welcoming you back, and, the last face you see, thanking you for choosing the hotel and welcoming you back for your next stay. To say they go out of the way to accommodate all of your room needs is an understatement. They make it a point to ensure that all of your needs are always met. The best front desk team I have come across.

From there, you are always greeted by each employee, as you walk through the hotel. Get to know the staff, as, each one will go out of their way to ensure you get the best experience.

JP at the Concierge Desk will provide you the best insight into which wineries to visit and give you all the information you need to make your visit to NOTL exactly what you desire it to be.

Jeremy, the Food and Beverage Manager, always loves to chat food and will be happy to discuss details about the delicious food you will eat for room service, at the lounge, for tea service, or at the formal dining room. Speaking of food, do not miss out on the amazing $5 tapas and expertly executed food at Churchill Lounge, or, for a special dinner, make sure you check out Escabeche. Being in the food industry, and, an entrepreneur, myself, food is a very important part of any travels, and, the Prince of Wales delivers. When at the restaurants, you are in good hands with Kelly, the Restaurant Manager. He ensures the lounge and restaurant deliver exceptional service to match the delicious food. As for wine, the wine list is extensive, but, you can reply on Fred, the sommelier, to guide you through and choose an excellent bottle from their cellar (which we were lucky enough to see this time around).

This review would not be complete without mentioning Kelly, the GM, who overseas the entire hotel, and, whose energy and positivity are contagious. Her caring attitude is clearly reflected in the entire staff.

In short, if you are considering staying at the Prince of Wales, do it. This historic property is a gem in NOTL. Beautiful enough to stand up to any hotel in and of itself, the staff puts the hotel over the top. While there, ensure you get to know the staff and count on them to provide you with the best experience possible.

I have always loved the Prince of Wales - from the lovely roses that greet you at every turn, to the formal "high tea", and the exquisite decor - this has long been a favorite. On my most recent trip in January 2013, some members of my team had special needs. The concierge quickly accommodated every request that we had, making the stay for everyone in our group, a wonderful experience

Room Tip: We had a small board meeting and chose to use a queen suite with a separate living room for our meet...

There is not much that I can add to the praise of this hotel and their great staff that hasn't already ready been written by Susan N my good friend who does not give this kind of praise easily but she is right on the mark. Cooper the front man on the reception desk with Bobbi not only gave the four of us great service they made us feel right at home looking after our every need. On the day my wife and I checked in I was in need of a pen by the time we checked out I now have enough pens to last the year. Of course Cooper expects me to hand them out to friends for marketing purposes lol .Kerri looked after us at breakfast with a smile and great service. The rooms were great, beds extremly comfortable the fireplace adds a nice touch of a home away from home. While the ladies were enjoying the spa which my wife said was amazing, my friend and I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon tasting the excellent choice of beers they have on tap in the lounge. The buliding has that old world feel with a beautifully maintained historic lobby area. If the staff can put up with our humor we will be back for another weekend very soon. This hotel is the best hotel in the region and can truly call itself number one

Ken
