Went on my bi-annual anniversary wine tour during harvest time. Was hoping for Gus, but got another very good guide, as Gus was in Italy.
Our package included 4 wineries in an intimate manner, and lunch.
His choice of wineries was great because 3 of the 4 I've never been to (Hinterbrook, Pondview, and one which ecapes me at the moment). All were very good and i spent a good amount of $$ at pondview on some amazing wines, and also bought 2 bottles at Hinterbrook (Tavel style rose, and a fume blanc).
The lunch was so-so. Not really my thing, but the experience was great, and it is nice to not drive whilst imbibing.

For our first wine tour (and my birthday) we researched and picked NVWT. The experience definitely matched the ratings. We were so impressed with our host Gus. He was hospitable, warm, friendly and always willing to share the rich history of the region as he drove us through the tour.

We stopped at three wineries:
Hinterbrook- AMAZING time hanging out Phil, the owner. He was so knowledgeable, and welcoming. I learned more about wine from him in an hour than anyone else in the last year.)
Pillitteri- Big winery, very different feel. The host was ok. Just not the same level of passion and interest as Hinterbrook. Cool history though. Not very engaging though.
Between the Lines- Really cool, intimate place run by brothers.

All in all, really cool experience. Gus was amazing.

Thank you for choosing Niagara Vintage Wine Tours for your first and genuine wine country experience!

It is unfortunate you had a less than impressive experience at Pillitteri, I am sure they would be disappointed to hear that. It is great to know you had such a great experience with Hinterbrook, Between the Lines and Gus! One of the best things about the smaller wineries is you never know when you may bump into the owner. It is awesome the Phil had and took the time to chat with you while you were there!

Thank you for your review and business!!

We decided to think outside of the box for our second "date" and thought what better than doing something we've never done before and that was a wine tour. We were greeted by Gus when he picked us up from the Hilton Hotel. Gus our tour guide was incredible and extremely knowledgeable. We were the first couple among 3 others that were to be picked up. On our drive to Niagara on the Lake, Gus took his time to explain the details of the wine region, the local wineries and the history of the varieties of wine in the region.

As we arrived to NOTL, we picked up the remaining couples and made our way to Pilliteri Estates where we joined up with an additional tour from Niagara Vintage Tours and were taken on the grand tour by Rob our Host. We were given the history of Pilliteri Estates, which was very unique and provided an opportunity to tour the underground Barrel Cellar and learn about the importance of the #23 to the Pilliteri Family. After the tour we tasted a variety of wine to which we purchased a few bottles.

Our second stop on the tour was to Trius Hillebrand, which was a lovely establishment. Upon arrival Gus hooked us up with our host Taka, who took us up to the "Loft", which Gus informed us, doesn't happen to often. The Loft area was nice and during the tastings we were introduced to specific glasses designed for specific types of wines. This was very interesting. As we progressed through the tour it was wonderful getting to meet the other parties involved and began to build a rapport with each one of them, sharing in stories and laughter. So far our second "date" had been amazing. Onto the third and final winery of the tour. Peller Estates.

A short drive later and we are at Peller Estates and upon arriving you sense the "corporate" touch as everything was "bigger" and "better". The main building was beautiful with the grand entrance boasting a seating area and fire place. Here at Peller Estates we tasted 3 varieties of wine, a White, Red, and Ice Wine, or a choice of our own. Here we found our favourite wine of the tour. Peller Estates Muscat - a white wine that was absolutely delicious. We purchased 3. Again throughout the tour we shared in laughter with the rest of our group. We parted ways from Peller Estates and headed over to our dinner reservations, not before getting a small tour of the riverside homes. Gus up to this point has been extremely helpful and positive, always looking to accommodate each one of us. Such a wonderful tour guide.

We made it to the Charles Inn for dinner where we were all seated at tables of two, but in the same area so we could still converse and interact with one another. The atmosphere at the Charles Inn is incredible. We had a special menu prepared for us upon arrival where we selected a starter, a main and a desert, to which each had their own pairing of wine. The food was incredible and by far one of the best meals we've had. The food would remind you of something your grandmother would have made. It was awesome. The group of people we were on the tour with all got along so well that we asked Gus if he didn't mind us staying for an additional drink after desert and with no surprise Gus told us to enjoy. The tour group sat around and had our last drinks to a bunch of laughter and jokes.

The tour was concluding and it had been an experience we won't soon forget. We were extremely impressed by everything and with it being our first wine tour we wouldn't of wished it any other way. We would like to thank Niagara Vintage Wine Tours for putting together such a wonderful package and we will be sure to return.

Thank you for a wonderful second "date" experience.

Regards

D & K

Hubby and I decided to book the dinner tour for our 5th wedding anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised to find out we were the only guests on our tour, so we essentially got a private tour. Tom was our guide. he was personable, knowledgeable, and funny, which made our experience that much more engaging. After tasting at 3 wineries, we had a lovely dinner (and more wine) at the Charles. The food was delicious. The ambience and service was impeccable. We couldn't have asked for a better night. Would definitely book again with our friends.

We had a half day tour- which was the right amount for us- 3 wineries. Our tour guide Gus was amazing, he was knowledgeable and it was clear he had relationships with the wineries we went to. It was a great way to see the hidden gem wineries.
