Even though it was pouring down rain I didn't even notice because our tour guide had our complete attention. She taught, informed and humored us with the history and current status of Niagara-on-the-Lake. My 2 day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake was complete after I went on this tour.

We took Lily's tour in August 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it, well worth the money. The tour was only supposed to be 90 minutes, but Lily took extra time with us and it was over 2 hours. The tour was extremely informative and gave us a good sense of the history of Niagara-On-The-Lake through the stories the many historical buildings have to tell. I would highly recommend this tour! The pace is quite slow and the tour was no problem for my mother who is 73.

My husband and I participated in one of Lily's Old Town Tours in 2010 and then again this July when we returned to Niagara-on-the-Lake and longed for some history to compliment our afternoons and evenings at the Shaw Festival. How we loved learning more about Niagara-on-the-Lake and more about the War of 1812. Lily's thorough knowledge of the area's local history, her passion for history, her gentle spirit, and her gift of weaving stories about people and places set her apart from so many other walking tour guides we have met throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. She tailored the tour for us - guiding us down different streets and pausing in front of different homes and shops and historic buildings than those we saw two years earlier, focusing on different aspects, pointing out details we would have otherwise missed, sharing new stories which made the history of this beautiful small town really come alive.
Don't miss the opportunity to meet Lily. Don't miss the opportunity to learn so much about Canadian, American and British history. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about the significance of this small town in Canada's development. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about architecture and transportation and tourism and economic changes and remarkable people in a most interesting way. It will be a morning to remember!

This walking tour is delightful and full of interesting facts and tales of times long passed. Our tour guide, Lily, breathed life into buildings – you could almost imagine the dismay of the nineteenth century matron- of-means when she discovered her husband was a bigamist. As residents of nearby St. Catharines, we have often walked about Niagara-on-Lake (NOTL) admiring the stately old homes and businesses but without much context or knowledge of the town’s history. When our American friends visited last week, we decided to take the Old Town Tour and were not disappointed. Our tour guide lives in NOTL and in fact, grew up there. She not only knew all about homes and happenings in the 1800s, she was also able to answer our questions about more recent history – everything from the impact of changing economic conditions to the challenges of renovating or rebuilding a structure in a town designated as a historic district. Great fun and good value.
