My husband and I were spending the weekend in the Niagara region- 1 night in Niagara Falls and 1 night in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Finding a hotel that allows a 1-night weekend stay in NOTL is difficult once the Shaw is on, so we were happy to find Finlay House, especially considering their reasonable prices.

This is a great b&b for those who are wary of this type of accommodation- there are only 2 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs. The owners live in a house attached to the guesthouse. It is very quiet but with a nice lounge with computer and wi-fi (wi-fi is also available in the rooms). It is only a two-block walk to the main shopping street and the owners are great about letting one park the car before or after one's stay. We were also fortunate to be able to check in before the normal 4-6 pm window so that we could go to explore the area's wineries. Stephanie, the owner, is welcoming and helpful with local information without being obtrusive.

We stayed in the Stuart room, a large room with 2 twin beds that make up to a king. The room is pretty basic but has lovely antique wood furniture and a great lcd tv with satellite. Due to the four windows, the room was bright though shutters provided privacy. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also large with a big tub. The shampoo/bubble bath/soaps/etc. were lovely.

What really set this b&b apart was the breakfast. It is served at 9 am, with a table for 2 for each room. When we came downstairs, coffee and juice (orange and grapefruit) were on the buffet. Stephanie was also quick to make me a pot of tea. Our first course were amazing baked apples stuffed with figs and served with a side of vanilla frozen yogurt. The second course was "creme brulee" french toast- think bread pudding, served with bacon and a fruit garnish. Yummy and very filling!

We will certainly be back!

Would recommend to anyone. Owner, Stephanie, was the perfect hostess. Rooms were wonderful, guest lounge a treat, location fabulous - less than five min walk to old town and breakfast was delicious with restaurant presentation. Can't wait to stay again.

My wife and I spent a weekend at Finlay House and we really enjoyed it. The location is great - it is a 2 min walk to the main strip of Niagara on the lake (Queen st) which gives you access to restaurants, art shops and theatre. One of the days we rented bikes (again a 10 min walk).
The hostess (Stephanie) has a charming Scottish accent and fixed us the most memorable breakfasts on both mornings which we enjoyed while listening to some light jazz music in the background. The rooms are very clean and comfortable - but not overly luxurious. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Overall - Great service, great location, clean/comfortable rooms and delicious food.

We had a great stay, Stephanie was so friendly and helped us with suggestions about what to do in the area. It's conveniently located just a short walk from the town centre. The bed was so comfortable I could have slept all day! And Stepanie cooked up some special treats for breakfast, it was delicious! We look forward to staying there again!

Wow, what a great place. Stephanie and Benoit were fantastic hosts. Every room is cozy, enviting, clean and warm. Even in November we spent some time on the wrap around porch which was lovely. So close to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is very convenient. The fireplace, furniture and wrap around porch made the stay such a pleasure. You'll be seeing me again.

I've stayed in several B&B's and by far the nicest experience was do to several factors. First and foremost Stephanie greeted us with a generous smile and sense of humour that instantly made us feel welcome. The rooms are warm, bright and spotless. One other perk is the B&B is within walking distance from town making easy to shop and dine and not have to worry about parking and driving after a leisurely dinner with wine.
Kudos to Steph and family for making our weekend one to remember.
