“Great B&B”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

I wrote in the guest book, "Thanks for the home away from home." The rooms are comfortable, large and bright. Breakfast was excellent. The location is close to downtown, so you can leave your car parked and walk to and from a number of great dinner choices.

We've stayed here twice and will return.

Room Tip: We like the upper floor.

We stayed here while visiting NOTL for the first time. We stayed in the Oscar Wilde Room - a very comfortable Queen Size bed, fireplace, ensuite bathroom and cozy sitting area with plenty of natural light. All bathroom amenities were available. Breakfast was a generous and delicious meal - organic granola with yogurt and fresh berries followed by scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and toast. Pam also prepared coffee, tea and hearty muffins which she let us take with us (as most were full at this point!). Pam was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Finlay House is also just a short walk away from downtown so it was easy for us to get out and see the town (during the day and again in the evening). We definitely hope to visit again in the future.

I recently stayed at Finlay House at short notice and was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming and comfortable the B&B was. The owner Pam was more than accommodating and made me and my friend feel really at home. The B&B itself is beautiful! We stayed in the Oscar Wilde room. The room was big and spacious with a flat screen tv. The en-suite was clean and big enough for the two of us. There was also a living room downstairs with a dining area. Speaking of which the breakfast was delicious! Poached eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, bacon, the works!! All cooked so well. The location is pretty good as well, just a few minutes walk from the town center. I have stayed at a lot of B&B's and Hostels whilst I've been traveling and this one was by far the best. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

We were in NOTL for their annual Candlelight Stroll. We stayed at the Finlay House in the Farquharson room. The room is large with a fireplace, fridge and TV. The bathroom was also very large and bright. The entire B&B is immaculately clean and fresh. The owner Pam is very welcoming and easy going. We had friends meet us at the B&B and we were able to use the common area to vist with them and enjoy a glass of local wine. The B&B is only about 3 blocks into town so it was a perfect spot to be able to walk everywhere. Breakfast was the perfect amount of food. We started with granola, yogurt and fruit. Pam prepared what I would call an "English" breakfast of eggs, sausage, mushrooms and tomato with a side of toast. Everything was perfectly cooked. She had an assortment of homemade jam. She finished off the feast with a choice of muffins. It was a wonderful start to the day. We really enjoyed staying at the Finlay House and would like to go back in the future.

We've stayed over the years in a variety of N-o-t-L lovely B&Bs. Finlay House tops them all. Warm, helpful hospitality, comfortable room, many unanticipated benefits: WiFi, available laptop. Every effort was made to anticipate the needs of the guests, Stephanie is a gourmet cook. She serves a varied menu of delicious breakfasts. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast conversations with the other guests, facilitated by Stephanie's friendly informality. Parking is convenient. There is easy access to theaters and shopping. It was a great weekend.

Room Tip: The Chattan Room has a private, but not ensuite bath. It is a workable arrangement, but our next vi...

Finlay House is my birthday destination: it has been for the past two years and will certainly continue to be. In fact, I dream of being an ancient wonder on the lovely porch with a good "glassa" VQA in hand. We are also interested in staying there in the winter during the Niagara Icewine Festival for a snowy version of this getaway. When the quiet was enough for us, the company of delightful guests at breakfast made Finlay House especially cozy. Theatre, wine, and life conversations bandied about over delicious breakfasts and endless cups of coffee. Stephanie gives the comfort of her lovely neighbourhood, her fine rooms, her tasty food, and her particularly good person. She is wonderful to chat with--the term "dear friend" comes to mind. We have stayed in both the Stuart Room and the Farquharson Room and have found them equally comfortable. Walking to the main drag for shopping and nibbling is very easy, and driving to the many wineries in the area is a terrific way to spend an afternoon. Coming back to the porch for a glass of wine to grin at costumed 1812 soldiers and other passersby provided moments of small-town perfection. Finlay House is good company! Thank you, Stephanie!

We debated about staying at the falls or at NOTL. The Finlay House was the best choice that we made on our vacation. The drive to the falls was peaceful and scenic. Our breakfasts were delicious. I cannot imagine any B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake having a better breakfast. The location off of King Street was close enough to easily walk to shopping and restaurants, but far enough from the crowds that it was peaceful sitting on the porch. Stephanie and Benoit made are stay at NOTL special. I would highly recommend staying at Finlay House.
