This was our second stay with Lyn and Dean at Amarula House. Decorated in their native South African theme, the rooms are spotless with comfortable beds and roomy baths. We stayed in the Buffalo Suite which has a separate sitting room with gas fireplace and private entrance to the deck. A big plus is a beautiful pool surrounded by attractive gardens. The breakfasts were great and Lyn and Dean are wonderful hosts. They made reservations for us and went out of there way to help. We have been staying at B&Bs in Niagara-on-the-Lake for about 30 years and have almost always been happy. Amarula House tops the list and we have already booked for next year.

My sister and I stayed at the Amarula House overnight on July 21, 2009, and were delighted with our accommodations and our hosts. Both Lyn and Dean were delightful, and went out of their way to be helpful to us. When the "pickup" for our wine tour was delayed, Dean phoned for us to try to find out what was the delay. Lyn was and extraordinary cook, and the breakfast she made for us was a 10 out of 10! The home is newly renovated, and "squeaky clean". Beautifully decorated without being overdone. Many of the artifacts they've brought with them from South Africa, and the stories that Lyn told us about her life there, and the transition to coming to Canada to live and work were fascinating.

Even though the weather was cool, we both enjoyed our "dip" and exercise time in their lovely pool, which is surrounded by lovely gardens.

When travelling to Niagara on the Lake, I highly recommend the Amarula House as a delightful place to stay. The location is in the heart of the old town, and is within walking distance of many delightful shops, restaurants, and the Shaw Festival.

My cousin & I had a wonderful long weekend at the Amarula House. The multi-course hot & cold breakfast was exceptional. And those cinnamon rolls--yum! When we had to leave early to catch a flight, Lyn packed us a breakfast-to-go which we ate on route to the airport. She linked us up with bicycle rentals that were delivered to the house, making biking along the Niagara River through beautiful wine country very convienient. Each evening Lyn suggested options for dinner places and then made reservations for our walk-to-dinner-downtown outside dining experiences. How good is that! The theatre that we came to see was just a bonus part of the lovely weekend.

We were completely accommodated from making the reservations until we left with a delicious boxed breakfast to facilitate our early departure. Lyn and Dean are helpful, gracious, interesting and fun, and very generous with their time and information, eg advising on and making restaurant reservations. They suggested booking bikes in advance, which were delivered to the B&B in the morning and picked up the following morning--so easy and convenient so we had abundant time to enjoy the relaxed and delicious breakfast with fresh-baked pastries, lots of fruits, yummy coffee and a hot course. It would be a great pleasure to stay at Amarula House again with its great African themes, extraordinary hospitality and very convenient location. I do not hesitate to highly recommend this B&B.

Amarula House has everything that you want in a B&B. From the moment we arrived, our hostess was warm and welcoming. Our room was well appointed. Our breakfast was delicious. As an added bonus, there was a deck off our sitting room which we shared with our friends who were occupying the other second floor room. The location is perfect as all theatres and the main street are within 5 minutes walking distance.
