We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend, in the "Medici" room. It is worth noting that while this room has a smaller bed and no balcony, it has the highest ceilings, which helps when you are in a 19th century house and are 6'4".
Carlotta and Kash, her husband, could not be kinder and better hosts. Breakfasts each morning are served anytime from 830-10am, at your leisure, and to say they are generous would be an understatement. Carlotta makes everything fresh, often from Tuscan-sourced ingredients, and the courses just seem to keep coming - fruit with yogurt, bruschetta, fresh bread, main course and even a breakfast dessert, all with fresh coffee and juice freshly whipped up by Kash from the juicer. The breakfasts were uniformly delicious, and large enough that we usually skipped lunch.
Carlotta is a long-time hotelier and knows what she is doing when it comes to the details. Everything down to the bathroom soap has been hand-selected by her, and again, much of it is sourced from Tuscany. The beds she has selected, in particular, are some of the best I have slept in. They made it very difficult to get up in the morning, in a good way!
The house was newly renovated by Carlotta when she took over about a year ago, so although the home itself has a charming rusticity, everything inside of it is in excellent condition.
Besides doing such a fine job with the place, I cannot stress enough what fine people Carlotta and Kash are. They are the sort of people you hope to meet in every new destination.
I should add, finally, that the location of the B&B is very convenient - about a block from the main part of town. You will also have your own parking space, and the wineries and other attractions are all easily accessible by car.
This was our first trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, and La Toscana di Carlotta was a huge part of why we will definitely go back.
