“Great Wolf Lodge - Family Fun Done Right”
Reviewed March 11, 2009

We stayed on a Sunday night for a better rate, 2 adults and 4 children. The kids loved everything about the lodge and it was very reassuring to stay in a family hotel environment.... it was very relaxed. Story time was a huge hit. The waterpark was surprisingly clean. We didn't enjoy the lineups for the various rides so go when it's not so busy. The room prices were crazy and the decor very "rustic 80's" but the kids didn't mind. The food at the various restaurants was surprisingly good and not too expensive. We would definitely go again.

Great Wolf Lodge was larger than we had expected. We arrived early since you are allowed into the water park area starting at 1pm on your day of arrival. The front lobby was very large and very full when we arrived. We checked in and got our wristbands for the water park. The wristbands are also your room key and and you can use them to charge food and drinks to your room as well as use them to lock and unlock the free lockers in the water park area. Our room was not ready until amost 4pm which is the posted check in time. When we got our room the floor was quite dirty. There were chip crumbs and plastic wrappers on the floor which I wasn't too impressed with. I talked to the front desk and they made a call and this was quickly cleaned to my satisfaction. The rest of the room and the rest of the facility was clean, I'm not sure what happened with the floor in our room. We had a family suite which was a good size. It had two beds, a pull out sofa, and it was pretty roomy. It was bigger than your average hotel room. The room had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker etc. The rooms were very quiet. We were with another family and all the kids were in the room beside us one evening. I KNOW they were not being quiet, but we couldn't even hear them in the room right beside them.
The waterpark was very nice. It had some good water slides and rides. It had some nice pools and hot tubs. There were two indoor hot tubs (1 adult and 1 familiy) and one outdoor adult hot tub which was very nice. The lines for the slides did get long at times, but weren't bad at all first thing in the morning or in the evening.
The are lots of food options here, but they are pretty pricey. Our morning snack of two bagels, two donuts, two milks, and one coffee was over $18, and a medium pizza at Pizza Hut there was almost $20 too. It's handy but more than you'd pay if you went to a restaurant.
This hotel was a good value for what we paid. I will say we received a significant corporate discount and if we paid the regular rate of $399 / night I wouldn't have been as impressed.
We all had a good time and will definitley be back. I would recommend this to any of my friends or family who are looking for a nice get away.

I booked online for a Saturday night March 1, 2009. The web site is deceiving. I booked a wolf den suite and with taxes it cost $629.00!! From the time we arrived till when we left the next day was a struggle. The place was over packed with people. Line ups for everything including check in. Our room was nothing special. No different than a cheap motel room. The room was an incredible far walk to the main building and water park. We had to wait over an hour to get a table in the dining room. The buffet was not very good and expensive (three kids and two adults $80.00). People are siting all over the lobby on the floor eating due to there not being any seats anywhere to sit. The water park is nice but just try to use it when you can barely move to to the amount of people. There are cheap lawn chairs and tables on the decks with no wait staff, but who cares because good luck in finding a seat! Line ups for water slides very long with lifeguards deliberlately delaying the slides. I have met nicer Carny"s at the CNE than these lifeguards! A wave pool so crowded that you are constanly rubbing up against people. I felt releaved when we left. For that money I could have stayed at a luxury hotel like The Four Seasons with a pool and been waited on hand and foot with a suite that is to die for.

We stayed at The Great Wolf Lodge in July 2007 for 3 nights and we had the best stay ever. The hotel was very welcoming and staff very friendly. The hotel room was very spacious and clean. Once we had checked in the girls couldnt wait to get down to the waterpark which was fab so much to do for all ages , lots of family fun. The hotel also offers a shuttle bus to the falls as it is set back a bit but that didnt bother us as we have been to Niagara Falls several times . Plenty to do and would definately go back . We just wish they would open one in the uk.

As a grandparent, the amenities at the Great Wolf Lodge at Niagara Falls were quieter (no Quest!) and the food was better, especially the sandwiches at the snack bar near the waterpark. The tourism opportunities--the Falls--were close and fabulous, especially if you like Ripley's and the like. A nd the exchange rate for Americans was favorable (80 U.S. cents on the Loonie--the Canadian dollary). For those venturing out, we highly recommend the Antica Pizzeria, also on Victoria Avenue in town, for Italian food.

I had heard so much about this place (and my kids were begging to go) so we decided to spend part of the Family Day weekend there. The kids had a PA day on the Friday so we went up on Thursday night and for that night, it was $100 cheaper than the following night.

The rooms were fun (we had a Wolf Den room) and the overall decor of the place was the same. That aspect of the place makes it pretty unique. It's fun just to walk around and check out how they have decorated the place. The gift shop is big with lots of nice things. There are plenty of food stands and one sit down buffet style restaurant. The food was acceptable. I had read that it is better to just go off site to eat but that's a pain when you have small kids. The food is a little better than what you would expect to feed kids and the pricing at the buffet isn't too bad. It's not a fancy gourmet place for adults though.

We brought fruit, cereal and buns for breakfast rather than go downstairs to eat in the breakfast buffet. We brought some paper bowls from home so I didn't have to wash dishes in the sink. THe rooms have recycle containers for you green people. There's a medium size fridge that was more than adequate. It even had a small freezer tray for my ice packs. We also brought snack foods from home for late afternoon and late night munchies.

The water park is fabulous for younger kids, maybe up to pre-teen age. There is another waterpark in Niagara Falls better suited to teens and adults. My kids loved the arcade the very best and after two times in the waterpark, they just asked to go back to the arcade so we never used the waterpark on the day that we checked out, which was a shame, since we have paid more for that night. We brought our own towels at the advice of other tripadvisor reviewers but found we didn't need them. The towels at the waterpark were small but really fine for just drying off and then we threw our coverups overtop anyways to walk back to our rooms. Plus, you can always give your wet towels back and get dry ones whenever you wanted. Everyone grabs a chair or a table and puts their stuff on them as soon as the park opens so if you don't do that, you may have trouble finding chairs if you come after that...

The service is top notch. Everyone is friendly and accomodating.

The children's activity room is great for pre-school/ school age children with crafts both free and some for extra charge. The story telling and talking animals is also a novelty but the storytelling gets pretty crowded.

The mini golf is closed in the winter since it is outside.

I think I'd return again during the cold season since it is convenient not to have to go outside but probably wouldn't stay more than 1 night. In the summer time, I'd probably stay nearer to Clifton Hill or the falls because there is so much going on outdoors and there is a great waterpark and arcade by the falls anyways.

Free parking is a bonus. There are plenty of trolleys to bring in your luggage. We arrived at around 8 pm so we missed out on a whole days worth of using the facilities but then again, check in took 30 seconds. We could have gone to the park for an hour but our kids wanted to explore the place before bed.

Overall, and in retrospect, we could have done things a bit differently to maximize our money here and it is expensive per night here but it's the kind of thing that you hear about and hear about and the kids hear about it from their friends etc etc so it's something we felt we just wanted to do. Not the greatest use of our money but also not the worst. Our kids enjoyed it so that's what matters to us.

Our stay at Great Wolf Lodge was not so great.
This past weekend was our first and last time at great wolf lodge. My husband, our 2 children, Our friends, their son and myself headed off this weekend to what was suppose to be an enjoyable and fun mini vacation.
When we arrived we were amazed at the exciting lobby with realistic looking animals which talked, our room was really fun for the kids as it was equipped with their own sleeping area that resembled a camping trip. Our day was pretty good in the huge waterpark, lots of fun for the kiddies(except for the long wait times for rides)
In the evening we settled into our room(my family) got the kids to bed and were getting ready to head to bed ourselves when we were accompanied by a little creature..........A MOUSE!! My husband and I spent over an hour trying to catch him and get him out the door when we lost sight of him. We turned furniture over and pulled out the pullout couch. The sheets of the pull out couch had crumbs and had obviously not been cleaned before we checked in from the last guests. We flipped the mattress of the bed to check if he went in there , but all we found were condoms, yes i said condoms, condoms from the last guests or 2 or 3 or 4 ago maybe? We called the front desk and asked for a new room. With all rooms being booked up, we were told that we probably scared the mouse for the night and that housekeeping would be notified of our complaints and there was nothing else they could do for us.We spent the rest of the night uncomfortable in our room with minimal sleep. The next morning we went to the front desk and we were offered breakfast. I personally have a hard time eating in an establishment that has mice, knowing that they get into everything. All i wanted to do was leave , as we were tired from the events from the evening. We would have preferred a refund or a partial refund, but the assistant manager later informed me that there was nothing else they could have done for us and they would not refund us any money. I was very annoyed and disappointed with the customer service we recieved on our first trip to a very expensive resort. Some of these rooms start as much as $500 per night. I expect for that money a clean room without rodents at the least!! This we did not get, nor did we get the customer service we should have. We will not return to Great Wolf Lodge again.

  • Liked — Themed room , if it didnt have mice
  • Disliked — The mouse, condoms and overall uncleanliness of our room/lack of customer service to meet our needs
