“Great Family March Break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2014

It was our first visit to this hotel in the region. We wanted access to a water park and value. The rooms were expensive as are most rooms in Niagara Falls but we saved by bringing breakfast, lunch and 2 of 3 suppers. With a microwave in the room, we reheated dinner 2 evenings, and ordered out on the other.

Service: I got great service: at registration, waterpark, ice cream, delivery, room cleaning...

Water park: WOW! Great. The air was a bit cool but the slides are great, the wave pool was nice also. The only off side... there are a lot of children in this hotel so I guess there are more chances of seeing a sick child... I only wish parents were respectful enough to not bring their sick kids to water park... But this is not the hotels fault.
Loved the spas. The family spa could be a bit warmer though.
The lifeguards are really alert in wave pool.

Dinner ordered at Northwoods Pizza Company: We ordered the Wolf Pack Special. What I can say is: DELICIOUS. The pizza is great (my 12 year old daughter lived it), my teenage (15) son loved the medium chicken wings, I loved the cesar salad. And the price... well not bad for a Niagara Falls restaurant.

Snacks: the ice cream is absolutely delicious... a bit expensive but seeing as it was the dessert for meals I had made, well worth it... 3.49 for a 1 scoop cone... the great thing about this: 4th scoop was free so got 4 for the price of 3.

The activities: Cub club - great for young kids, my 7 year old loved to colour and read the books...
Ten paw Alley (bowling): fun... try to get a 2:1 coupon, makes it less expensive..

I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: Ask for room on same floor as water park (easily accessible) but not in front of cub club (very noi...

Spent the weekend in a loft suite with 4 adults and 3 kids - never felt like we were on top of each other. Kids aged 5, 3 yrs and 6 mths. All had a blast. Yes, somewhat pricey but no worse than if we'd had 2 rooms somewhere else and the amenities were great. Really appreciated the family atmosphere (someone was up by 6am, walking the halls with the baby and there were always other parents in pi's doing the same).

We will go again and look forward to our kids' growing independence. Their highlight - wave pool. Adults - the water 'roller coaster'. All around awesome experience, over the top great service - can't rave enough.

Room Tip: We did suite with the upper loft - with a noise machine (for the kids) it was easy for all to sleep.

This was our first visit to Great Wolf Lodge. 2 adults and our 6 yr old daughter.

Water Park: good for 8 years up:
large and fantastic park. Wave area, leap frog, lazy river and fountain/splash zone areas were all enjoyed. If your child will happily go down enclosed tubes by themselves there are lots of slides for them. Be aware though that If not there is only one of the big slides available for the whole family to ride in. Our child loved this ride but was not of an age/temperament to go solo on the others so this restricted our use of the park. There are a couple of smaller park style slides that are good though and she loved all the fountains, hoses, etc to play with. Overall for us I feel the sweet spot for kids is 8 years and up.

MagiQuest: worth every penny:
this is an interactive scavenger hunt style game where you go on quests to be a Magi. I initially thought the price tag to this to buy the wand and game play etc was very expensive however having done this it is worth every penny! I didn't find the description clear do didn't realize we had hours and hours of fun ahead of us! In fact our daughter favored this over the water park. You complete quests to find magical runes and improve your magical knowledge. Beware you will walk lots around corridors, up and down stairs so great exercise! Our daughter really felt she was doing magic to make paintings talk, open chests, make crystals glow, save the pixie and bear. Lots of fun!

Rooms: big clean rooms. Don't get one near the central stairs if your kids go to bed before 10pm. Lots of noise and doors banging.

Restaurants: the website reads like there are several options. Outside the water park area there isn't. One buffet. One pizza food court style counter, coffee /snacks.we didn't eat in the water park area so can't comment about that. However the buffet was great and the fajitas at lunch were awesome.

Paw Pass: definitely worth it - we didn't get it as hadn't realized the magi quest would be so good...but wished we had.

Overall we had a great stay. For the price it was an expensive room - a little cheaper and we'd come back more often. This will likely be a once a year treat for us maximum.

Splash Lagoon in Erie is less expensive, but the other kids are pushy. Very clean. We went to nearby takeout restaurants and brought food back to the room most times. We did have lunch in the dining room. $6.99 for kids; $16.99 for adults. Buffet was the only option. An overnight stay is all you need to experience everything. Our wait time was ~20 minutes per slide.

Very attentive life guards.

Our only complaint is that you have to check out by 11:00 am. You are then forced to work out of a locker for the rest of the day. It is a little tricky, but it can be done. And if you pay for your locker (and $10 deposit) in US dollars, you get your refund back in CN dollars.

Room Tip: Big price difference in rooms, but you don't spend that much time in room. I'd book the lea...

This was our second visit to GWL. Our kids LOVE it. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Rooms have a fridge and micro so to keep costs down/eat healthier my family packs a cooler of food. I find the buffet restaurants expensive but the snack bars/pizza place not bad. Next time I'll check the Buffalo school board's holiday schedule but despite the fact the hotel was sold out, the lines for the bigger slides were not excessive. It's not a place my husband and I would choose for ourselves but as a family vacation spot it is great. Our children are 3 and 5. Did I mention that they LOVE GWL?

We booked 2 rooms for a family weekend away when my family came to visit us from abroad. We stayed during a long weekend. Considering the price we payed for the rooms, and the fact that every activity apart from the water park was at an extra cost, we didn't feel the whole experience was value for money. Our kids, were too short for any of the water slides, which made the whole experience even less worth it. Strangely enough one of our family member wasn't allowed on the bigger baby slides but was allowed on one of the big floaty thing slide (sorry, can't remember what the ride is called) which was pretty fast paced. That at least made him happy, cause he wasn't happy with the super short baby slide. It was definitely worth purchasing the meal plan, as food in the resort is quite expensive. It was a fun and magical experience for our kids, however, considering the price we payed it would have been more worth it, paying extra and going to a different state, or even America for a few days.

Room Tip: Try and go during the week when they have massive discounts.

We recently spent a night at Great Wolf Lodge with our 2 children who are 9 and 12. This is our third visit. We met 3 other couples who have children similar in age.
We stayed in a fireplace room which was spacious and clean.
The staff were polite and hard working. My biggest complaint would be the cost of a night's stay. The room on a Wednesday night is at least $200 and the cost of food is ridiculous! My kids love the waterpark and the arcade but given how crowded the place is and how expensive it is I think we will save our money for a trip down south next winter!
As an aside, we made a quick trip to Tim Hortons for breakfast and brought plenty of snacks to offset the high cost of food.
