“Great place for families with young children”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Paid $180 a night (weekday) including tax from one of the discount sites, including $50 meal coupon. we got one of the rooms with the "camp quarters".

The place was steadily busy but the line-ups were not bad for the water slides. We never had to line up for longer than 10mins. This place is designed with young kids in mind - water park, story time, magic treasure hunt, PJ party.

We called it "Disney of the North"....while it's not exactly Disney World, the activities they have available for kids under 10 years old are pretty comprehensive. Not a bad place to spend a night or two with the kids considering it is only one hour drive from where we live.

Buffet dinner was so-so...as expected. We didn't have high hopes. For breakfast we drove to a Tim H nearby (<10mins) and avoided the high price at the hotel.

Room Tip: Stay on the ground floor, far away from the elevators (very noisy with hyper kids)...this way can lo...

I like how there is plenty of fun and places for younger kids and older ones. My toddlers had a lot of fun in the pools. The river is a lot of fun too. The slides are good. The lifeguards are really serious and attentive. It is clean and well kept.

I was travelling with my mom, nephew 9, son 4 and daughter 2. We had a blast! This resort is built for families, so there was something for everyone wherever we went (water park and arcade). We stayed in a Kids Kamp room, which was a bit more money, but also a bit more special. From the fellow at the front door, to the teens running the slides, to the staff we passed in the hall - everyone was friendly and helpful. Returning is a no brainer.

We went with another family who has children the same age as ours. Making the reservations they cross referenced our family names so our rooms would be close to one another (they wound up being across the hall and down 2 doors - success). We also got one paw pass that gives you late check out (tip #1) This was my first time on the main floor (room 2083) and I must admit I liked being on the main floor. Our kids (3 and 4) had a blast. We arrived early and checked in and then had some lunch. We then proceeded to the water park. As you enter they measure the height of the kids and give them a colour coded wristband for what slides they can go on. Our daughter was a little short for the body slides and said she was 4. If she would have said she was 5 she could have gone down the larger body (which she did the next day and we got the wristband and left this on for the rest of our stay - tip #2). The slides are great, but the water park is not meant for really small children. I don't remember the heights (check online), but I heard several parents with really young children complaining that they couldn't do much with their babies (tip #3 - don't bring really young children).
The food there was really good this year. We ate in our room 1 night (ordered pizza - most affordable way to do a meal) and the second night we ate at the buffet. The food at the buffet was outstanding - much better this time than previous visits. We also brought our own oatmeal, fruit, cereals, milk, peanut butter, bread, etc. etc. (tip #3) to save on food costs for the kids. While the kids ate breakfast in the room with the food we brought, we would purchase breakfast burritos and coffees at the coffee shop which were affordable breakfasts (tip #4). Bring your own bowls and cutlery and a bit of dish soap if you are going down this road - makes life a little easier.
The best tip (tip #5) I can give you is to be at the waterpark entrance 20 minutes before it opens and enter your name into a ballot to be family of the day (you get the ballot from the front desk). You get use of a special seating area inside and outside by the pool, plus lots of free extras (game tokens for thew arcade, 2 free kids drinks and cups, magic quest wand and game, etc). This would be particularly useful on a busy day because if you don't "stake a claim" to a spot, it will be difficult to find a spot later in the day.
It really is a great place to visit and if you forget something you can either buy it there or drive into town to get it. The late check out is great so you can use the waterpark on the last day, get cleaned up and then leave (or stay like I did and as we were water parked out, we played in the arcade and with the wands/magic quest game). As for the magic quest game, it is difficult and your kids need to be able to read or you will be doing all the work and they will simply wave their wands (tip #6). My kids just went around waving the wand at the objects and were happy to do that.

Fun for kids and adults! We stayed there for only 1 night, but we still had Lots of fun! It's a kids-oriented hotel with an indoor water park, and also an outdoor pool and hot tubs for adults, within so many other fun things to do there... Extremely friendly staff makes it a great family experience... Even though is not right at the falls, it's only a 5 minute drive to all the attractions, and to be honest,, once you check in here, you don't want to leave!

Room Tip: The further from the lobby, the better! Since it's a kids-oriented hotel it might get loud.... D...

We won a one night stay here and went in the summer with a friend and their daughter. We returned again in the winter. It is great in the summer and winter. It is so amazing for kids, you can see them light up when they arrive and enter the lobby. It is also great for adults. They serve alcoholic cocktails by the waterpark and have a spa for some alone time. The waterpark is so much fun, wave pool, rides, an entry from inside to swim to an outdoor hottub which we loved in the winter. During the summer there is an outdoor pool. The rooms are clean, so much fun (one had bunk beds with individual tvs and playstations for the kids). The lobby is so cute and the staff makes it so much fun. Cant wait to return. I didnt feel overwhelmed and that the kids overtook this place. Night time they had storytime for the kids in pjs with cookies. If you live in the area you have to do this once, especially if you have kids it is something they will always remember.

Room Tip: Many different types of rooms to choose from and each one has its own charm.

This was our first trip to Niagara Falls and we booked at the Great Wolfe lodge because of previous reviews and we were not disappointed. We have a 7 month old child and we found this hotel and water park was perfect for us. We had a great day at the Falls and the tourist area and spent an entire day at the resort and water park. The park has a bunch of different water slides and smaller pools for children. We also enjoyed the lodge and how they cater to families with their nightly story times and family events.

If we return to the area, we would definitely stay there again. I'm trying to push my sister to bring my nephews to the resort as they love water parks.
