I can't believe I'm saying this, but our trip to the Niagara Glen in many ways eclipsed our trip to the falls. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the falls, take the bus north and come check this place out.
Even on a hot day, this hike down to the eddy was enjoyable in every way. We took the cliffside trail and then came up the Niagara shore. Beautiful spots were around every bend.
And, the nature guides enticed my sons to go on a photo scavenger hunt, searching for plants, mushrooms, fossils, rock formations and more. With every photo, they earned points which they could then use to "buy" fossils, rocks and shells on display in the nature center.
The four of us had a blast looking for fossils, looking up plants and insects, and just connecting to nature. And our efforts were rewarded with amazing rocks and fossils that the boys were able to keep. We all loved it.
The trails are well maintained and makred, but lots of rocks, so wear good shoes and bring water.
Make sure you take the eddy trail. At the bottom, our boys got to dip their feet in the Niagara River, which they loved.
If you love being outside, you'll love this.
