“Great start to the new year”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

We booked this hotel only a month in advance of New Years 2013, and it was a really great stay. The price was low, but the service was nothing but the best. Maria was a phenomenal hostess and breakfast was delicious. The bed was comfortable and there were more than enough amenities in the room. We actually stayed the first night the B&B was ever open, which was a treat for us. We will be back if ever we stay in Niagara Falls again!

My husband and I booked a room at the Redwood for New Year's Eve over 6 months ago, knowing how expensive Niagara Falls hotels would be that night and needing a place to stay for a friend's wedding. We were thrilled and actually felt guilty staying in such beautiful accommodations since my friend, the bride, booked late and could only find overpriced and underwhelming accommodations elsewhere.

The second we walked into the Redwood we felt at home, particularly due to the tasteful and festive Christmas decor. I first saw the establishment in the dark; since I was getting ready with the bride earlier that day only my husband checked in. We got back after the wedding at 2am and were welcomed by motion sensor lights as we ascended the elegant staircase. Our room, The Venetian, lived up to its name with a classic European feel: warm yellow walls with a large, comfy bed, a cozy electric fireplace, a small sitting area, and a spacious bathroom. Every corner of the room was exceptionally clean and showed great attention to detail, from the assortment of tea, coffee, and snacks in the sitting area to the collection of soaps, shampoos, and even a glass canister of q-tips in the bathroom.

The next morning, New Year's day, we were thrilled to meet and spend some time with Maria and her mother, the proprietors of the Redwood for about a year now. As several other reviewers have mentioned, these two treat each guest with an unparalleled level of care and attention. Their genuine love of their job (which despite how busy they must be every day I got the impression that it doesn't feel like "work" to them at all) was clear to us. Simply put, the hostesses themselves were enough of a reason for my husband and I to return as we simply enjoyed being in their company and sharing laughs and conversation. If we needed a place to stay in the Falls, we would return for the comfort, the beauty of the property, the convenience of the location, and the delicious quality of the food served over breakfast. But because of Maria and her mother, we will make a special trip to return to the Redwood.

We've gone to Niagara Falls for a few years running now, for New Year's Eve. We've stayed at different places too but this was, by far the most comfortable and inviting place we've been to. On a New Year's Eve, it's just fantastic to be among family, right? Well, both Maria and her lovely mother make you feel part of a family. They are simply the most inviting hosts we've met in the area and really know how to treat their guests...as family. Totally accommodating and totally friendly, these 2 know how to make you feel at home and they definitely know how to feed you. A wonderful, wonderful experience.

We went to Niagara Falls for a long weekend. We picked the Redwood B&B after a quick glance at the online reviews which left no doubt we'd be well set there. Little did we expect, though, the sheer cheerfulness & enthusiasm with which Maria and her Mom welcomed us! Our room (La Dolce Vita) was absolutely sweet, nicely decorated, spacious and perfectly clean. Breakfast was excessively good with Maria and her Mom bringing in wave after wave (no joke - we thought we were done after the first round of hot food, fresh fruit, yoghurt) of delicious food and portugese-inspired deserts. Had some genuinely sparked & entertaining conversations at the breakfast table ... all the way down to one of the guest couples announcing their engagement. The practical fact: Maria's B&B is in walking distance (15min) to the Falls & to all of the City's attractions. Should be kept a secret but word is out already: So here it is ... one perfect little place for a romantic getaway!

You honestly couldn't ask for better hosts than Maria and her Mother. They treated you as if you were family (only better). They went out of their way to make sure that we not only had a good stay there, but in Niagara Falls as well (recommending restaurants, specific tourist attractions, etc.). The breakfast they served us in the morning was absolutely incredible. It was the perfect way to start your day. Both Maria and her Mother hugged us goodbye. I doubt I've ever received service that good or that sincere in my entire life. You won't find a better Bed & Breakfast or service in the Niagara region (let alone one located that close to downtown). I highly recommend Redwood Bed & Breakfast. We will be back.

Room Tip: Our room in particular was beautiful. From what I could see, every other room in Redwood Bed &...

My husband and I stayed with Maria & Mom for 3 nights last week. Can't wait to revisit. Very warm women - and great cooks! They invited anyone visiting to stay for coffee and eat - even people who didn't stay at the Bed & Breakfast.

It was a nice 10-15 minute walk to the main attractions in Niagara Falls. We saved gas and money, and got some good exercise by just walking around the area! Very close to the Rainbow Bridge, which makes it pretty easy going back and forth between Ontario and the states!

Thanks ladies! You made our week! We've been talking about our visit for the past week!

Room Tip: Go near the end of the travel season to beat the crowds. We didn't have to wait for any of the...

Our first time to Niagara Falls. We stayed in the Saffron Room and it was perfect. Bed comfortable, room large with a nice sitting area that provided a small coffee pot, coffee, tea bags. Everything was sparkling clean and Maria and her mother very nice. We had a fabulous breakfast each morning, along with some dessert made by Ligia. The walk to the falls was quick along the river and downtown area. We also visited the Niagara on the Lakes which was about 8 miles from the B&B. Many decent wineries and a very quaint town with a lot of shops & restaurants. A perfect afternoon if you want to get away from all the touristy shops downtown.
