“Great stay!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Close to all attractions and, great views of the falls. Definitely get a falls view room. Hotel was nicely updated and clean. Cookie was also a nice touch at check in. Parking was overpriced but its over priced everywhere. Would stay again.

Pros: The building and guest rooms were clean and modern. The room attendants were quick when we requested additional amenities. Check-out was a simple and pleasant process, even with a hangover. The hotel is in a great area, a nice walk to the falls/casino/Clifton Hill.

Cons: The Front Desk Agent upon check-in was not helpful. She was unfriendly and didn't inform me of any hotel amenities (spa, breakfast/restaurant options, info about the area) and made my room selection difficult. It was a bad start to my stay. $12 is too pricey for parking my own vehicle, and valet should be an option.

Room Tip: The "balconies" are actually one long terrace, and is shared with other people on your flo...

When visiting Niagara Falls, we normally stay at the Hilton. However, this time around the Hilton was booked, so we chose the Double Tree for one night, used our HIlton Honour Points and had a great stay.

The price for the Double Tree is always considerably less than similar hotels ie., Marriot and HIlton, for one simple reason: It is a couple blocks farther from the falls, which in fact turns out be a negligible distance, at a great savings.

The hotel is situated on a quiet block away from the hub-ub. Upon check in, we were greeted with the Doubletree's signature warm cookies. Front staff were polite and efficient. When we booked the room, we had requested a feather-free room due to allergies. The room was already made up for us (the feather comforters and feather pillows had already been removed) when we arrived in the room.

Our room had a small separate room with a pull out couch, refrigerator and TV, adjacent to a larger room with a king bed which is great for families. The furnishings and ambiance of the room was "Canadiana," ie., printed curtains, pictures of landscapes, and traditional wood furniture. The bathroom was a decent size, but no separate shower stall ie., the shower head was in the bath tub.

Because the hotel is set back from the falls, you don't have the same view as you would at the Marriot, but, you can still see both the American and Canadian falls from the room.

The lobby is striking and done in the Pacific NorthWest style, stone and wood, high ceilings, atrium style and there is a Starbucks adjacent to the lobby.

We went across the street for breakfast to the Ihop, which, like most Niagara Falls restaurants, is three times the price you would normally expect.

We did not use the spa or eat at Buchanons this time around. (On another stay, we did try the steakhouse and it was just okay). There is a large indoor pool, and a nice small hot tub outdoors.

In short, if you want to be near enough to the falls, but not in the heart of all the chaos, than the DoubleTree is a great alternative, particularly for families.

I definitely stayed at much better hotels in Niagara before. Since this time we came with our 4 month old daughter, I am especially picky.

Location: bit far from the main attractions. The so called fallsview is overlooking park lots and the water evaporates from the falls.

Cleanness: very clean though the draining does work well in the shower... air condition is really loud...

Food: we had dinner at the restaurant, it was really quite and the taste was good. The buffet breakfast was very disappointing, definitely does not worth $16 per person.

Front desk: wasn't very helpful, we had to request the baby crib when we get to the hotel though I booked it online. When we asked where we could have a quick lunch, they pointed to a place that book over an hour.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback, we appreciate your time. Your honest input is what we seek. The word Fallsview is reflective of the tourist zone in which the hotel is located, Fallsview Boulevard. Our hotel in particular offers mainly rooms with a panoramic view of the Upper Niagara River including the city scape. Top four floors are US Fallsview and offer great views of the American Falls, we do not offer views of the Horseshoe Falls which is the one with the most mist and I think you are referencing. When booking our hotel, the room view would be indicated. By copy of your posting, we have circled back to the team and have addessed all areas of concern. We hope when next in the area we may show you the improved quality stay you expect and deserve.

Reception was cold and unfriendly (Anastasia)and did not know how upgrades work for gold Hilton Honours members. Better training is required for Reception Staff. Everytime I walked by the desk, a middle-aged woman with brown hair was complaining about Hilton.
Appetizers and breakfast in Buchanans Restaurant were good but again, service was apathetic. $12.00 for parking is too much, considering the overflow lot is in an unsavoury area. Location and room were very good. 10-15 minute walk from attractions and good restaurants. If you don't mind less than stellar service, you will be pleased with this hotel.

Our trip to the falls was excellent! We were there for my 40th birthday with a group of friends. All the rooms were on the same floor, all side-by-side. The service, room, hotel,parking....all excellent. No complaints! We had a great time and I would book with DoubleTree again!

We recently stayed at the DoubleTree and thought the hotel was very pleasant. It's a little bit away from the main area, so it's less hectic. For an extra $10 we had a view of the Falls which was quite lovely. Our only disappointment is that we checked in around 9:00 p.m. and there was no place we could get a meal. Granted, it was a Tuesday night, but it would have been nice if the hotel had a coffee shop open. It was a bit of a trek to the restaurant/entertainment district and we didn't want anything that took long, so we drove to Swiss Chalet on Lundy's Lane for a take out meal.

Room Tip: The view of the Falls is worth the extra few dollars.

Thank you for sharing this quick feedback on your recent stay with us via TripAdvisor. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your room and view and are so sorry for any inconvenience you experienced with the meal options in our area. Just a note that we do have a coffee/pub located in our main lobby across from the front desk. The Moose and Squirrel coffee pub serves Starbucks coffee, sandwiches, soups, bagels, pastries, fruit and various treats. They are open Sunday - Thursday from 7 am through 10:30 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 7am through 11:30 pm. I am so sorry that you were not able to take advantage of the coffee pub while staying with us, but will be sure to direct your comments to our front office staff to ensure they mention these details to future guests. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope to see you again on a future trip to Niagara.
