Room was vey clean, short walk to the Casino and Falls. Indoor pool is small and the excercise room has cross trainers and treadmills but only a chest press machine and some dumb bells for strength training. Nothing for legs or back.

Restaurant on site. Okay food, fairly pricey. No bar or night life in the hotel.

My daughter and I spent one night at the Doubletree in NF. The price was right and the view was awesome. The hotel is situated a few streets back from the falls so the view of the American Falls includes the cityscape as well. The hotel room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The lobby is a great place to sit and relax. The ambience is great.

I highly recommend a stay at the Doubletree while in Niagara Falls.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the falls. It is worth the extra few dollars you pay. Also, ask for a h...

This was a business trip to attend a conference at the hotel, extended through the week-end for personal reasons.

It is an attractive, clean hotel, as you might expect from a Hilton Doubletree property: pleasant rooms and amenities, nice lobby, attractive decor, spa on site, Starbucks in the Lobby.

(As an aside, both the towel rack and the shower curtain rod in our room were loose from the wall and bent downwards, likely due to being used as grab bars getting in and out of the slippery tub/shower.)

Don't be fooled by the advertised prices for the hotel. There is a mandatory $12 per night parking fee for everyone with a car. This is not valet parking; this is not covered parking; it is self parking, outdoors and unsecured. On busy nights, there is not enough parking and a secondary lot down the street is offered, also for $12 per night. It is clearly just a cash grab.

At check-in, unlike most hotels which swipe a credit card as a pre-authorization for the stay, we were asked to pay in advance not only for the cost of the room and the parking fee but, in addition, a $50/night fee for possible "incidental expenses" that we might incur during our stay. It felt like the hotel feared that we would abscond during the night without paying our bill. How insulting.

When we objected to this full advance payment, the solution from the Manager was that the incidentals fees would be waived but in return the hotel would turn off the phone and the pay TV service in our room, so there was no risk that we would actually use them. Good grief.

The final irritant is that our bill at check-out included a 'destination marketing fee' plus HST that had not been disclosed by anyone in advance. (I imagine that all the Niagara Falls hotels charge this fee, which is wrong-headed from the start.)

So, in summary, the hotel itself is pretty good. The hotel policies are bad and the hotel charges are downright ugly.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a room with a close view of the Falls, choose another hotel downtown.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on the hotel, your feedback is appreciated. We regret to learn of your disappointment and apologize for any short comings or miscommunication on our part. If a valid credit card is provided at the time of check-in, a swipe is done with a pre-authorization for the room total and $50 additional for incidentals. This is quite typical of any hotel. It is only if the credit card is declined that the hotel requires payment at time of check-in via another form of payment such as cash or debit card. Not being able to know your exact file I can not advise on your specifics with dollar amounts. Feel free to contact us at the resort and we can investigate further. Again, we are sorry for any failures which may have contributed to your experience. We appreciate you also sharing "the good".

Me and my wife stayed here on a Saturday night and it was disgusting. Consistent with some other reviews, the hotel is beautiful from the outside as too is the lobby. The beauty ends there. The room looked like something out of the 70's. The ceiling was mashed up, the bed was small, sheets like paper, and incredibly musky.

It gets worse. We tried to sleep but kept waking up due to all the noise from the plumbing on our and floors above us. We kept hearing people flushing, showering, and running around all nught very clearly. I never notice this much noise in any hotel which says a lot considering we just went to New York City just last month.

To make matters worse, one of the rooms above us appeared to be quite busy. The door kept opening and slamming, people in there showered every half hour from 1am - 5am, and there was plenty of loud noise coming from there. You can devise your own conclusion about what that was.

We were out of there at 6am and looking forward to going home to sleep. I had to call the front desk 5 times before someone answered (I was trying to find out when the coffee shop downstairs opened). I mentioned it to the service rep at the front desk and he said sorry once and looked at us puzzled. He seemed completely oblivious to anything we were saying.

If your going to Niagara Falls, which we try to every year, stay at the Hilton next door or the Marriott on Victoria. The Sheraton is older but at least their service is good.

Stay away from this one!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and the poor perception given. We apologize for any shortcomings on our part and inconvenience caused by the hotel or other guests. The hotel design is intentionally "arts & crafts" and "mission" style, which is indicative of the Frank Lloyd Wright era. The architecture in particular is heavily influenced with this style of design. Any item with a 70s look would be intentional, as the hotel only opened in 2004. Do note, the smallest bed size at our property is a standard queen size bed. The large size of our guestrooms allowed us to offer two queen versus the typical two double size beds. As you may have noticed, our beds have triple sheeting which includes a decorate top sheet which is the one that would lay on top of one in the bed. These latest design sheets have only been in use for a couple of months, prior to that the bed sheet was simply white. We would love the opportunity to see how we can change your perception of our hotel on your next visit.

Stayed at DoubleTree for one night and enjoyed it.

The staff were nice and we had a quick and painless checkin. The warm cookie was a nice touch. The restaurant serves very good food at reasonable prices and it even had live entertainment. We had a falls view room on the top floor. It's a bit far for a good view, so I would not bother next time. If the view is very important, choose another hotel, e.g. Embassy has an amazing view. The pool is great. It is a salt water pool and has a dedicated area for adults to swim, kids can play in a separate area. It is a 5-10 min walk to Fallsview Casino.

We stayed here over a weekend in Nov. Quite enjoyed our stay and was a good price for what you got.

Service:
We checked into our hotel at around 3pm on a Friday afternoon. No wait, quick and informative. They also give you each a warm ‘DoubleTree Cookie’ (chocolate chip with nuts) which was a nice touch.
At one point the hairdryer in our room burnt out so we called for a replacement. It was delivered in minutes.
The cleaning was fine, however they took our towels we had hung up (which means we will reuse them) and they did not replace them. We were left with one towel for two people for a 24 hour period! This was a little annoying. We didn’t notice until it was too late to call and get more.

Building/Amenities:
Centrally located within walking distance to most everything in the area.
The lobby is beautiful. It really like being in a ski lodge. High lofted ceilings with stone and wood. There was a fireplace which was in use with seating around it. Nice place to just sit and read or have a coffee.
There is a coffee stand located in the main lobby that sells Starbucks, some light breakfast options and cookie. They also have a small bar here and seating.
There is a small gift shop as well with a wide range of souvenirs and snacks.
Located in the basement is the Pool, Hot Tub Spa, Sauna and Fitness Center. We used the pool and spa. The water temperature was perfect. The had a lower level pool for the younger crowd and then a lap pool for adults only.
The Fitness center had the basics of what you needed. Two treadmills, two elliptical and a recumbent bike. They had free weights and some benches and matts. Note that if you are planning on using the Fitness Room you will need to go to the lobby to get a special card to get access. Your room card will not work.
One thing to mention is the elevators where slow. We felt we always had to wait and wait at in the lobby to get an elevator. If you have 20 floors, you should have more than 2 elevators.

Restaurant:
On the Second floor they have Buchanans restaurant. We only ate here one morning for breakfast. They offered a buffet style breakfast which was good, but a little overpriced for what was offered. I believe it was $16. They had fruit, cereal, toast, pastries, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, French toast and omelet station.

Rooms:
We stayed in a room on the 10 floor. We paid $120 a night for a two queen room. The view overlooks the river above the falls. Due to the angle you won’t actually see the falls unless you are near the top of the hotel. This didn’t bother us as I’ve seen the falls many times and don’t see the point in wasting the money for it here.
The room was standard size. There was a fridge, and coffee maker off of the washroom. The Washroom was a tub, single sink with extended counter. The toiletries they offer where limited to a small Lotion, shampoo and Conditioner The bedroom had two beds, a chair and desk.
The TV was located on the dressed in front of the beds with a descent selection of channels.
My only problem with the room was that the walls are thin. We could hear the conversation the people in the next room were having. We tried taking a nap in the afternoon and couldn’t because of this.

All in all, a nice hotel and I would go back.

Thank you for taking the time to share in detail your experience and a summary of the hotel. We appreciate all your good words. It is unusual to receive a concern regarding noise at our property. There is a posting on November 9 praising our sound proofing. Some things we did in the design phase that prevent noise are the low room count on each floor so reduced volume of traffic in the hallways, rooms are only located on one side of the hall (so no noise across the hall), elevators located in a side alcove with no guestrooms directly opposite or sharing a wall and sound proofing guestroom walls. I can certainly appreciate what you are saying, at the end of the day, a hotel is a hotel, and it will never be like a home. It is possible that something has occured in a guestroom as a one off situation. Being in our low season now, we will be able to check room by room. Thank you again for your feed back and we look forward to welcoming you back to the resort.
