My husband and I just took a nice 3 night trip to Niagara Falls, ON over the Thanksgiving weekend. I picked the DoubleTree after careful consideration of the many reviews that I read. We were not disappointed! The hotel was easy to find (about a 5 minute drive from the Rainbow Bridge), but not right in the hustle and bustle of Clifton Hill. The hotel was rustic looking inside, but very clean and nicely decorated for Christmas. We stayed up on the 18th floor and had a fabulous view of the American Falls.

Hotel Pros:
-Free cookie upon arrival
-Falls view
-Jetted tub w/ king bed room
-Aveda Spa...hubby and I both got theraputic massages, which were worth the $100 each
-Onsite gym had treadmills, ellipticals, weights, etc.
-Free wifi
-$12 parking per day (sounds expensive, but much cheaper than other hotels)
-Close to casino, Skylon, IMAX
-10 minute walk to the Falls
-15 minute walk to Clifton Hill

Hotel Cons:
-Kind of sketchy boarded up houses all around the immediate neighborhood (the DoubleTree property was very well kept)
-VERY SMALL shower!

Niagara Falls Off Season Recommendations:
-Skylon Tower for lunch. The food was so-so and expensive, but the view was well worth it.
-Journey Behind the Falls. No line in November and the view is just as good!
-Walk across the Rainbow Bridge to the American side and take the path to Luna/Goat Island
-Skywheel at night. They took us around 5 times!
-Canyon Creek Chophouse. Best meal we had (although it wasn't hard to beat the other places we went :-o) and also had a great view of the falls.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a Falls View room on the 18th or 19 floor!

I stayed at the double tree with a friend.
Nice check in, Starbucks on site, cookie when you check in- nice touch.
We didnt pay for parking (a plus in the falls).
Beautiful pool- salt water pool.
Room was so nice, would have been a good place to go for couples and quiet time.
Not in the exact core of the falls, but a 1 minute drive and there you are.
Park by Boston Pizza parking lot for free by saying you are just going to eat at boston pizza and voila, no 15$ parking fee on clifton hill.

Thank you for taking time to post a review of your recent stay with us. It is always so nice to see comments that our guests post. It certainly helps us maintain a higher level of service, which you deserve. Quick note on the parking. There is a mandatory $12 parking charge at the hotel, which is the lowest parking fee in this area. I noticed that you were from Niagara Falls, and there was a promotion in November that did waive parking for our local friends. I hope you can come to visit us in the future and enjoy the hotel and amenities again.

Very affordable hotel that offers average to above average quality. The lobby makes you feel like you're in a lodge. The staff is not necessarily friendly but they are courteous and thorough.

Price is decent compared to other comparable hotels qualitywise that are in the vicinity. Sucks to pay a parking fee.....especially when they have their own lot! Location location!

Rooms are generally clean and well furnished. I wish the television offered more channels.

Close enough to the main attractions but also far enough to avoid some of the traffic.

This is a nice new hotel and the lobby and exterior are very attractive. The location is convenient (walking distance to the falls and the Clifton Hill tourist area), rooms are spacious with views of the falls, and beds are comfy.

The hotel is well appointed with fitness and other services (though it is annoying you need to get a special key to access the gym) - but the gym is great.

A few downsides are charging $12 plus tax for parking (very steep given the surrounding car lots but it doesn't leave you much option!) and the service isn't great/very friendly. The first thing they try to do is upsell different rooms to you even if you're already in an excellent room (it's a bit off-putting....a simple welcome would have sufficed) - just seems they want to squeeze every penny out of you.

It is cute they give you a warm cookie on check in though...random but it was nice on a cold evening.

All in all, great hotel - good location and facilities and was nice and quiet for sleeping. Will use Doubletree chains again.

Room Tip: Higher rooms will enable a view of the falls but I wouldn't pay top dollar for a view of the Can...

This is a very nice hotel a tad aways from the main drag of the city. We opted for the stay and play package offered on the doubletree website, which included the room, $50 to Buchanans restaurant (on-site), $20 in casino tokens, and a breakfast for 2, again at Buchanans. Upon entering the doubletree, we found it to be just lovely, and were greeeted promptly at the desk, given all our package details and tickets, and 2 warm cookies. Our room was riverview and had a balcony. The beds were so very comfortable, the hotel was very quiet, and we slept like babies. I doubt we would have chose to eat at Buchanas had we not gotten the package, so it served both the doubletree and us well. The walk to the casino is not far, but it was drizzling and we had walked enough touring, so opted to drive over to the casino. If you get a players club card at the casino and use it to play, your parking is comped. With the many different specials and packages offered by this hotel, along with a comfortable room, you can't go wrong staying here. Doubletree Niagara is a great place to stay.
