Embassy Suites by Hilton Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotel
Ranked #19 of 128 Hotels in Niagara Falls
Reviewed October 24, 2008

We stayed two nights in October. You can't beat this hotel for proximity to the falls. the incline railway is right across the street and takes you right to the falls. two dollars canadian to ride. the hotel itself is nice. We found the staff efficient and check in and out was very easy. the complimentary "manager's reception" is a joke. the "light snacks" turned out to be salsa nad chips and pretzels, and vegetables to dip. We had a room on the 11th floor which had a nice view of the American Falls (there were few leaves on the trees to obscure our view), and a somewhat obstructed view of the horseshoe falls. I think if we were two or three floors higher than 11, the Keg restaurant wouldn't have been plainly in view. the room was clean and well laid out with a seperate seating area that we didn't use. they say you could sleep 5 in this room and i agree. the bathroom was clean with a tub built for two and a seperate shower stall. very nice. The bed was Verrrrry comfortable and contributed to our late risings each morning. overall, a very nice hotel.

For our first (and probably only) trip to Niagara Falls, we wanted a hotel that not only provided nice amenities but had the location and views. This hotel provides all of the above.

To view the falls properly, staying on the Canadian side is the first decision. As to exactly where you stay on the Canadian side will determine which view you will receive.

We chose this hotel since it provided clear views of BOTH the American and the Canadian falls. Also, it is located at the top of the incline ride that takes you down to the falls level on the far east side of the Niagara Parkway which is the main thoroughfare to see all of the attractions of Niagara.

From the hotel, you walk just a short distance to the incline office which can sell you not only the incline tickets but also can sell you the Niagara Attraction ticket with which you can see 5 or 6 of the most popular stops along the Parkway as well as discounted prices on some of the others attractions. This ticket will also give you access to the Niagara People Mover which is the incline and bus system that takes you up and down the Parkway with scheduled stops along the way.

The hotel itself is very nice with suites. We were located on the 37th floor (I think the room was 3703) which was extremely high. I would advise getting a room above approx. the 15th floor (to avoid the neighboring buildings - check with hotel staff as to the exact floor which avoids any problem) and below the 30th floor for the best views of the falls. Be careful in booking rooms in that some rooms only have a view of the American falls and some rooms only have a view of the Canadian falls and some rooms have views of neither. We requested and received a room with both views but you will have to pay for it - the room charges are by the view you receive so be aware of which category of room that you book in advance.

Our room was the standard two-room suite with the fireplace and the jacuzzi bath. There are several traveler photos that depict the rooms accurately. All of the standard room amenities were included, good maid service (we try to tip a small amount every night since the maids really do the hard work with very little appreciation shown), and the food from room service was fine - the menu is basic hotel fare (and no need to tip here since a gratuity is included). There were a separate shower/toilet area from the vanity/ jacuzzi bath area so there was plenty of room for 3 to 4 people.

Check-in and check-out posed no problems; however, I can see if you check out at peak times, there could be a little wait because of the sheer number of rooms in the hotel. Staff was attentive and all were very pleasant.

The breakfast provided by way of vouchers in the morning is a bit chaotic. Again, there are huge numbers of people going in and out of the main dining room. Although you have the ability to have fast food provided, you also had the ability to order hot specially-cooked items such as omelettes, eggs, etc

Again, the hotel location is at the very east end of the Niagara Parkway but with the buses provided by the Niagara Parkway Commission, you can easily see all of the attractions. You will need a car or tour service to see Niagara on the Lake which is a small historic town up the Parkway. It is a nice shopping area with bunches of quaint stores (all willing to sell you very expensive items with very nominal value).

We do recommend going over to the American side to go out on the Lookout Platform as well as the Caves location. Although there are no longer caves, just getting out on the wooden platforms right under the American Falls is a real treat and our 10 year old son loved it.

Now, the best attraction on the Niagara Parkway is the Whirlpool Jet Boat rides down the Niagara River. We took the boats originating at Niagara Glenn (take the bus system there) and the tour office is in the building next to where you see all of the Indian totem poles.

YES, you will get soaked so bring a change of clothing and they have a trailer in which you can easily change clothes. It was a fun ride on the water and you take about 4 to 5 turns in a short rapid area on the river. Although that seems a bit short, it was worth the money and it was so much fun for everyone of every age on the boat! You get drenched and will be totally overwhelmed with the amount of water that comes rushing over you as you dip and rise in the rapids.

We considered the jet board ride as the most fun of our activities in Niagara and it will probably be the closest we get to safe white water rapids in our now later lifetimes! Even our 10 year old has a blast and it was his favorite activity by far.

The website is easily found on the internet by typing in" whirlpool jet boats niagara" in a search engine.

So, as far as hotels go in Niagara, we vote for this one - as far as activities, don't forget the whirlpool jet boat ride.

This hotel is fantastic. The staff are all very friendly, the rooms are amazing, even the toiletries in the rooms are lovely.
The prices are a little high but it is well worth it!
The only complaint I have is the $20 a night that they charge for parking. You can park for free at the casino if you have a players advantage card. I would recommend doing that to save on the parking fee.
Overall, this is my favourite hotel to stay at when visiting Niagara.

My wife and I stayed here for one night on Columbus weekend 2008. The room we booked was advertised with a view of the Horseshoe Falls. It did have a great view of the Horseshoe Falls. What they don't tell you is that you have a much closer view of the Minolta Building with a huge lighted Banner. If the water is 100 yards away as they advertise, the Minolta sign is about 25 yards away and brightly lit all night long. In addition to that the beds were substandard. We have stayed at many hotels for one quarter of the price (totaling over $400.00) that had much more comfortable beds. We would have liked to leave the curtains open during the night to see the Falls but could not sleep with the bright light from the Minolta sign. I mentioned my disappointment to the front desk manager when we checked out and she offered nothing but an apology.

Just as an aside the front desk had large tip jars at each station with money in them. I have traveled quite a bit in the US and have never seen this. I already tipped the maid and the valet. Needless to say I did not tip the front desk manager for her apology.

I would not recommend this hotel.

We were only at this hotel for one night and enjoyed the breathtaking view from the 28th floor. Room was very clean except for the main window looking over the falls. It still had face impressions from other guests. It was a little annoying to look at after a while. But overall, we ignored it and still enjoyed the room. For a MONEY SAVING TIP: This hotel charges $20 a day for valet parking. And you cannot park your car yourself on the premise. So, if you stay two days, then $40 bucks plus taxes. The new Casino is very close and has parking for $5 for unlimited time. Sometimes the fee is free, sometimes it goes up to $10 depending on season. But the whole point is that you actually know where your car is, and you can get at it when you want. One time I stayed at the Marriott besides the Embassy, and I paid the valet service. It was winter time, and the valet guys just dumped my car off all iced up without cleaning it off. PLUS it took forever to get the car. Plus they want a tip! The valet at Embassy suites can also be very slow and can eat up your vacation time. Trust me, just park at the casino. You might have a little walk up down the ramp from the casino parking lot and a stroll to the hotel, but it'll pay off dividends and time. Especially if you stay for more than one night. What you can do is drop off your better half and check in, while you drop the car off and make the stroll back to the hotel. Believe me, it's worth it. Oh yeah, the casino parking lot is safe, indoors and has cameras everywhere. And lastly, make sure the hotel doesn't charge you for parking even though you didn't park there. The Embassy tried to pull a fast one and still charge us the fee. When we checked in, the agent was well aware that we parked elsewhere, and still charged us! Could have been honest mistake. Maybe not. Check your hotel invoice before leaving. So, I hope this tip helps. Have fun!
