The Conservatory is a beautifully interactive spot to learn more about butterflies and their habitats! You walk into a magical garden with butterflies flying about everywhere, lots of tropical plants, a waterfall, and up-close feeding stations so you (and the kids) get a great view of the inhabitants. It was also cool to see butterflies in their chrysalis stage. We were pleasantly surprised on a hot August day to find the conservatory nice and cool with easily accessible pathways and benches on which to enjoy the sight. As with most attractions, the conservatory exits into the gift shop. There is a mediocre cafe on-site, if you're heading to the Conservatory I would recommend stopping at Souvenir City on the parkway to get something to eat, the food and selection at the cafe was limited and disappointing. Don't forget to take a camera! Pricey (two adults $30+) and parking is $5, but it's truly unique.

From the time I walked into the Butterfly Garden, I was wanting to break into a Disney song from Enchanted. I was looking for the princess as I rounded every lush, flowering corner. It was really magical to be among all of the different varieties of colorful butterflies in their natural habitat. There were tiny ones and large ones with wingspans over six inches. One bright blue one ended up landing on the back of my shirt and stayed with me for about 10 minutes as I walked around. It was quite fun. The gentle, fragile butterflies were a nice contrasting break in the day to the thundering, powerful falls of Niagara.

As with most tourist area attractions, it was crowded with people; however, it was just as crowded with Butterflies. They were flying around everywhere. The most common one seemed to be the Owl Butterfly and they zoomed, zipped and chased each other all around the place. One did land on me, which was pretty cool. It was a lot more fun than I had expected and would have garnered a "very good" rating from me had there been fewer people around. They had a really nice gift shop with a wide variety of souvenirs and plenty of butterfly themed gifts.

To enter into the conservatory is like entering a child's inner self. The beauty of these delicate creatures as they land on you and flutter through trees and plants. So many different kinds of butterflies, so many different colors. Breathtaking experience! A must to put on your to do list.
