“Amazing view!”
Reviewed June 29, 2008

We arrived before check-in, and our room was not ready, but we were able to go ahead with check-in paperwork and were given access to the parking area, which is right across the street from the incline railway to the Table Rock area. We had booked a "Guaranteed fallsview" room and received what I think was a jacuzzi suite on the 18th floor. We had 2 queen beds in the sleeping area, and there was a pull-out loveseat in the sitting area. The room was not furnished in brand-new lavish furniture and accessories, but it was clean and basically well-kept. What made the room great was the view! It was truly a fantastic view of both falls! That was, after all, the reason for our visit! I imagine a room lower than the 8th or 9th floor would have the view blocked by trees, though. As for the negatives, there was no wireless internet access in the room, just in the lobby and pool area. Also, the pool was pretty small, but there was also a small hot tub. The location of the hotel is very convenient, though, and I can't imagine a better view in any other hotel!

We got the package deal with the room, dinner and breakfast. Only spent one night but was worth the price. We were on the sixth floor. Not a great view of the falls, but could see the top of the horseshoe falls as well as the river. Could not see the american falls do to the trees. Location is great, easy access to all attractions, right out the back is the incline that takes you to table rock. worth the $2.00 ride for convience, but you must walk around and experience it all. The resturant is not on location, but they offer the free shuttle to Remingtons which is over at Clifton Hills. Food was fantastic and service was wonderful. We took the shuttle to the resturant and then walked back to the hotel stopping and sightseeing/shopping along the way. From all the research I did i would say this is the best value for your dollar. Nice clean rooms, good view. Warning, I would not get the courtyard rooms, they are in the older part of the hotel and look a little run down. I might be mistaken, but I wouldn't chance it. Try to stay away from the first two floors to be on the safe side.

I booked large group into the Oakes Hotel for three nights in mid-June and all of my people were happy with their accomodations. The hotel is located directly above Table Rock and is handy to the new Casino, many restaurants, and the Niagara Park below.

The hotel wasn't quite full when we checked in, so I was lucky enough to get a corner junior suite on the eighth floor overlooking both the American and Canadian falls. The small entryway has the only closet and leads to a small sitting room with a love seat and television that is ideal if multiple people share the room. The sitting room is sparsely furnished and leads into the large light filled bedroom with two bay windows overlooking the falls. The king bed is comfortable with adequate reading lights beside it. A corner entertainment unit houses the television which has few channels, but who cares when you can watch Niagara Falls? The furnishings are mostly birch veneer and upholstered in tones of brown and beige. Framed photos of Niagara Falls and its attractions adorn the walls. The pair of tub chairs are comfortable and set a stylish tone. The Berber textured wall-to-wall carpet looked as if it were brand new.

The bath is set between the two rooms and is dominated by a large shell-shaped jacuzzi tub. There is a large shower stall, marble vanity...all completely tiled. Amenities include a blow drier, electric shoe shiner, coffee maker, and multiple fluffy towels, two of which are folded into the shape of swans. The room overall is quite comfortable and I'd recommend it to anybody.

The lobby is small, cramped, and a bit strange. I understand that this hotel will undergo restoration and that the oldest part of it will be torn down and replaced by a 28-story tower within the next few years. Beware, multiple visits to this hotel have taught me that room quality and views vary room to room.

  • Liked — The location is terrific!
  • Disliked — The Oakes doesn't have its own restaurant; the Applebee's next door is just ok for breakfast.

We stayed in a fallsview room for two nights at the Oakes, with the Attractions pass and brakfast at Applebies included. The hotel service was extremely rude and the breakfast was cold. There are better hotels (Hilton, Niagara Fallsview Casino) which are close, which would much more worth the money.

we stayed at the oaks by the falls we had a 2 story townhouse room awsome view of the falls and the city in one room. Observation deck was right outside our room. The only thing the rooms are missing is a refrigerator and a microwave .The food is exspensive on the canada side the prices are almost triple to our u.s.a. prices, they also charge tourist tax and some other kind of tax to pay for there fireworks show every weekend and on holidays. We booked through expedia the trip with airfare and hotel for 7 nights was $2,200 that was Memorial Day week for 4 adults. We asked how much it would cost to stay 1 more night they gave us a rate at $500 for Sat night.Expedia is your best price.

  • Liked — 2 story townhouse room very spacious with 2 seperate rooms with 2 queen beds

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on our honeymoon and were happy with the accomadations. I originally found this hotel online but after reading a couple of reviews decided to call the hotel directly to see about a cheaper price. Online for a STANDARD ROOM WITH NO VIEW it was over 100 dollars more than when i called the hotel directly!!! Plus when I called we were able to get a fallsview king size bed jacuzzi suite with breakfast each morning at applebees, a voucher for Remingtons Steakhouse and Seafood, chocolate covered strawberry's, champagne(which we dont drink so the hotel allowed us to get wine instead) and roses for more than 100 dollars cheaper so if i were you i would CALL the hotel instead of booking it online, our package cost half as much as it did online for everything we got!!! They can also fax your confirmation paperwork to you. Dont be to frightened when you pull up to the hotel, compared to the huge casino on one side and the embassy hotel on the other the hotel does look a little out of place and not as new as the others, but the inside more than makes up for it. The bed was very comfy with lots of pillows and the floor to ceiling windows were perfect for the view of the falls!!!! My husband has never been to the falls before and i wanted to get a room with an unbelieveable view which is exactly what we got, he could not believe how close the falls were to our hotel, it was absolutely breath taking!!! Now if you want a great view of the falls for half the price of the other big hotels go with this one, if you dont care about a view and want to be close to the action, look for a hotel near clifton hill that is where the majority of the restaurants, haunted houses, wax museums and other entertainment is located, however it is only a 6$ taxi ride from the hotel to clifton hill. The only bad thing about the room is that there was no mini fridge and because we were "honeymooners" they gave us the heart shaped tub...cheesy i know...and so there was no shower. Applebee's breakfast was good, just typical breakfast food, however the one morning we got the steak and eggs (had to pay $4 extra) and the steak was extremely good and well worth the extra 4 dollars!!!! One warning i do have is that the service was not the greatest, but it was not just applebee's, we also went to the Rainforest cafe and the service there was rediculous it took an hour for us to get our food and they were not busy, the restaurant was not even half full.....Remingtons was absoultely wonderful!!! We both had the Prime Rib with a baked potato and veggies. The Prime Rib was a nice chunk of meat with good flavor and the baked potato was HUGE!!! We also got dessert with our voucher which we really didnt have room for but figured why not, i got the Creme Brulee Cheesecake which was wonderful and my husband got the chocolate utopia which unfortunately was not as good as it sounds, i thought it would be too rich however it didnt have much flavor at all. The service there was great, a real treat especially compared to everywhere else we had gone! We did an adventure package(seperate from the hotel) and that included the maid of the mist, journey behind the falls, the butterfly conservatory and the white water walk. All of them were nice however i would recommend Journey behind the falls and the butterfly conservatory. Journey behind the falls brings you up close and personal with the falls, closer than maid of the mist!!! You are about 25feet from the falls it is amazing, and the butterfly conservatory was beautiful i could not believe all of the butterflies and how they have no problem landing on you!!!! Now if you do an adventure package and have your own vehicle use it instead of the bus, with the adventure packages you get an all day bus pass but we probably wasted a good 2 hours or so waiting on the bus or riding to the different destinations that were along the route, but the adventure package spots have free parking so we wish we would have just drove ourselves, they are all located on the main rode and easy to get to! Also if you get a chance drive up to Pellar Estates Vineyard its about a 20 min drive however a lot of attractions are on the way, we took the icewine tour and got some flights of wine and it was a beautiful place, we would have liked to of had lunch there however we just missed it, they only serve lunch from noon - three. So i hope this review helps and believe me i was concerned on how the view would be but it was absolutely amazing, and trust me when i say call the hotel and you will get a better deal!!!!!!! :)
