We recently stayed at the Oakes. The view was marvelous of the falls from our room. The only downfall is the deal we got on Groupon wouldn't allow my husband and I to have a king instead, it only was bookable with 2 queens, which was very inconvenient. The rooms themselves were very nice and clean. The deal we got included dinner for 2 at the Remingtons restaurant which was fantastic, breakfast for 2 at Applebees which was good too, (our waitress was very friendly and helpful with directions), a 4 winery tasting tour, a chocolate factory tour (both with samples) and a $50 voucher for the Niagara Seneca casino (in the US). We have stayed here before and will definitely do it again.

A great hotel with falls view rooms on one side. you pay a premium for the view of the falls but it is well worth it at night and early in the morning. The mist off the Canadian Falls gives it a ghostly feeling at night and softens the light show that is put on every nite when it gets totally dark. The pool though small was clean and warm, but the hot tub was occupied by teenagers most of the time. One sore point is the mandatory $154.00 fee for outdoor parking and my car had about 3/4 of ice on it but we warned by a sign so it happens.

Room Tip: The fallesview rooms were worth the price

We had such a great time at Oakes hotel! What a great package, efficient check in and out. Shuttle service right to restaurant and back! Remington's service and food was absolutely great, highly recommend prime rib and server Steve was great, lsinging waitresses was pleasant surprise. The view from our room was spectacular ! Rainbow over the falls and illuminated at night was breathtaking, we slept with curtains open as the view was so great and woke up to the beautiful sun! Breakfast at appleby's was good, orange juice not that great ...but who cares! Will be back over and over. Thank you Oakes for a great night!

Stayed here for 1 night over Easter weekend. The front desk staff are very efficient, you can tell they are used to dealing with large volumes of people all at once....impressive! Our room was on the 2nd floor, it was clean and comfortable (except for the pillows....brutal little foam things that were like sleeping on bricks). The room was spacious although the decor is dated. Our room overlooked a front parking lot and a one story extension that looked like a motel (not sure if that was part of the Oakes or not). The location is great as you can walk to everything and there are multiple restaurants to choose from (and the casino) all within easy walking distance.

On the downside, The Oakes needs a face lift, the wallpaper is peeling off the corridor walls and the carpet is worn out. The hallways are dark and dingy, the tv only got about 5 channels and the signal was poor, the blanket on one of the beds had stains on it and the white bath towels and facecloths need a hit of bleach.

This truly IS the closest hotel to the Falls. The view from our room (Fallsview on the 11th floor) was absolutely outstanding. The rest of the hotel was clean and serviceable -- a little rundown perhaps, but friendly front desk staff, nice bathroom amenities and a jacuzzi tub. The hotel pool, though small, was big enough to keep my 9 & 11 year old boys amused for over 2 hours. Only real complaint is that the Wifi is insanely slow. I know, I didn't come to Niagara to surf the Internet, but I had to mention it. The price is right and if you get a view of the Falls, it's definitely worth staying here.

Room Tip: Get a Fallsview room on a high floor for the best view.

Stayed at the hotel for one evening. My room is their standard double bed overlooking their courtyard on the second floor. The courtyard view is their parking lot. Relatively clean room but definitely older room. Bathroom light would flicker and make a noise as it turns on. Knobs are missing on their a/c. TV doesn't work properly. On the other hand, I lost my keys somewhere and the front staff are pleasant.

Would I stay here again? Probably not if I have better reasonable options.

We booked a basic room with the view of the Falls and expected mediocrity. However, we were happy to be upgraded to an 18th floor jacuzzi suite with an absolutely amazing view. The mist the next morning made it look as though we were on top of the clouds - a view I will never forget.

Despite being impressed by the upgrade, we were disappointed with a few things about our room. There were wet spots on the carpet that could not obviously be explained. The TV had about five channels - ridiculous for a hotel in Ontario. Also, we had a balcony that we could not use as the door was locked in the middle of March on a gorgeous day - they should have made an exception based on the 20 degree weather that week and opened it. Overall though, worth the price for the upgrade and that view alone.

Room Tip: We didn't request the upgrade and were given one - try asking when you stay, because a high leve...
