Stayed here April 5th 2013- April 6th 2013. My husband and I stayed here with two other couples. We booked through Agoda and had the king Jacuzzi suite with fire place for $95. there was ample parking when we arrived with easy access to the hotel. The hotel lobby was clean but smelled like fast food. We waited to check in for about 10 minutes. There were two people behind the counter but the second attendant did not open a line for us. It took about 10 minuted to actually check in, and they put a hold on my credit card for security reasons for the rooms which was still on 4 days later. they handed us the room keys without any direction on where to go ( as the elevator is not visible from the front counter). I asked nicely which way we should be heading and she acted like we should already know. I also asked where Dave and Busters was in relation to the hotel which she actually answered nicely and pointed us in the right direction. We headed up to the rooms which were clean and spacious. The rooms and bedding were nice and clean and had no distinct smell to them. The downside of this was the jacuzzi was in the middle of the room and the toilet and SAD little shower were behind a closed door and the sink and mirror were just outside the door. There was very dim poor lighting in the room which made it difficult for makeup.
The bed was mostly comfy,I prefer at little less firm, but lots of extra pillows which was nice. One thing that surprised us was the very large lighted mirror over the bed. I understand that the room is supposed to be romantic, but the lights were harsh and made it more pornographic like (which if your into that great).
We had a decent night sleep without hearing too much noise even though we were adjacent to the elevator. We packed up early and headed out for breakfast. Dennys is right outside and you can order right to your room I believe, but was for too expensive for our budget, we hit the golden griddle a short walk down the road $12 all you can eat!
We checked out which was no wait, the attendant was courteous but offered no suggestions on what to do in Niagara Falls. The great thing was that we were able to continue to park there until 4 pm with no additional charges!
We did not eat on site or get a chance to go swimming ( but it smelled over chlorinated from the hallway). But the Jacuzzi was amazing with the jets, but the timer is all the way across the rooms. Also the towels were rough and small (6'1 and 4 month pregnant) and the bottles of shampoo and conditioner suck. They are made of hard plastic and its nearly impossible to get the soap out!
We got a good price on the hotel, and you can get rooms for under $70 it was clean and not full of drunken kids under the age of 25. I wouldnt pay more that $75 for a room in the future, but it is well located with great parking! hope this helps!

Room Tip: Howard Johnson price matches and beats competitors listed in Canadian dollars do your research and get an amazing deal!

Thank you for your comments and kind words regarding your overall stay. Please understand that the temporary hold on your credit card for the 3-5 business days is a result of the credit card companies themselves and their processors and not the hotel property as we have no control over this process. The hold is performed on each and every guest paying by credit card to ensure that sufficient funds are readily available upon the guests check-out as this is common practice within the hotel industry. I have also spoken to my Front Desk staff with regards to directional information being supplied to each and every guest consistently as well as explaining to all guests of the signage available throughout the entire property detailing the locations of all three elevator locations, vending and ice machines as well as all other amenities available at the hotel. The room is equipped with a mirror above the king sized bed however the lights that surround the ceiling alcove can be turned off entirely if desired depending on the guests preference. The shower and toilet are located in separate room from the vanity and mirror so as to allow someone utilizing the shower or toilet to not disrupt the other utilizing the vanity while perhaps brushing their teeth. We do offer similar rooms without these types of mirrors as well and would have been more than happy to re-locate you to another more suitable guest room of your choice as we strive to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Typically pricing for fresh made to order meals are going to cost a bit more than an all you can eat buffet as the food in buffet operations is typically prepared in mass orders by a single cook and is susceptible to being touched by many different customers throughout the day or evening as well as sitting for long periods of time before being re-freshen. The whirlpool timer must be located a minimum of five feet away as per the Electrical Code and the times are 30 minutes in duration which is ample time in most cases.
Again we do appreciate the feedback and your positive words regarding your overall stay and we look forward to seeing you soon.

We stayed 2 nights and when we left in the morning to pick up a few things we put the clean sign on the door. When we came back shortly the room was already done, was impressed with that. The rooms were clean and checkout is 12 witch we liked.

This manager needs help ( Trainning) for this position, spend 4 days and pay close to $400 for a room with jacuzzi, when I ask for fridge he say I have to pay $10. He give me all kinds of explanations with actitud when I told him that should be for free special when you spend 4 days. Bad for this hotel.

I am sorry to hear that your experience was not as positive as could be. The Hotel does carry a limited number of fridges for guests who require them, but there is a cost for the usage of them. If it was perceived that one of our management team appeared arrogant while explaining the charges I do apologize. Thank you for your perspective and for choosing Howard Johnson.
