Forget comparing this to more modern facilities and don't expect to get the same fit and finish. What you can expect is a clean large room that is pretty well sound proof. The breakfast was pedestrian, but the coffee was very good. For new visitors to the area, if you plan to walk from this location, it is among the furthest distance from the Horseshoe Falls (2km), but very close to most of the major Clifton Hill attractions (less than 0.5 km). If you plan to slip down to Niagara-on-the-lake this is also great location.

Room Tip: Don't worry about first floor rooms that are adjacent to the breakfast area, if you have your room fan on, you won't hear anything. (I don't know about the pool area.)

We stayed here for 3 nights in October. It was a short walk from the main attractions but still far enough away to avoid all the noise. The room was nice but the towels, sheets and furniture were all a little outdated and could use a refurbish. The shower was small and the shower curtain kept hitting you as you showered. The free breakfast was nice to have but crowded and smelt like chlorine from the pool. The free parking was definitely a plus to have.

Overall it was a nice place, nothing was terrible, but next time we would try to look for a nicer place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at Clifton Victoria along with our 3.5yr old son on October 17 2013 for 2 nights. It was a pleasant stay. The room was a good size and very clean.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Breakfast had good variety and loved the atrium setting where it was served.
As mentioned by some other reviewers here, the main lobby did have the clorine smell from the pool. It was the first thing we noticed when we entered the hotel but I guess that cannot be helped and we got over it very soon.
Overall, a good stay and we would stay there again.

Stayed one night as the second stop of our bus tour of Canada and the USA. Our first impression was of the dreadful smell of chlorine from the swimming pool in the foyer! Our room was acceptable but perhaps a little tired. Our inclusive breakfast the next morning was appaling - we had to put up with the terrible smell of the swimming pool in the dining area. The buffet food, served on flimsy polystyrene plates with plastic cutlery was way below standard. No way would we stay there again!

Room Tip: No idea if there were any "good rooms".

The most memorable aspect of our stay at the Clifton Victoria Inn was the helpfulness of the staff, from the moment we arrived at the entrance from the parking lot to the moment we went out the same door two days later. We were especially impressed by the room attendant who managed to find me, twice (!) after we checked out to return things that I had uncharacteristically forgotten. The other notable thing was the large size of the room, which gives it a sense of luxury. We appreciated the fresh fruit at the complimentary breakfast, along with sausage patties and omelettes and a good selection of other items. The location is superb and the car stayed in the (free) parking lot while we walked everywhere during our stay.
