“Niagara for the sane”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

Marriott Gateway on the Falls - note this is DIFFERENT than Marriott Fallsview & Spa (across the street)

- It is the last hotel on the "strip" making it a much quieter stay than other hotels that we have seen in the area. It feels more sane than most of the crazy crowds you will witness in Niagara. For example, the Sheraton is right off of Clifton street which is similar to a crowded Carnival experience.

- We stayed in room 1121 the Junior Presidential Suite and would definitely recommend it. The room came with a kitchenette, full dining room table, desk, couch with pull out bed, shower and jacuzzi bathroom. The views were unparalleled from the suite of both the horseshoe and American Falls. You could also see the Rainbow Bridge. It felt like you were on top of the Horseshoe Falls. The room also allowed for a view of the falls right from the bed. There is also a fireplace in the living area.

Some things to note:
- The hotel is quieter than most, but a 15-20 minute walk to Murray street (where the passage lies to get near the falls). We actually brought our bikes and rode them everywhere (which we would definitely recommend). There is a place in Niagara you can rent your bike, but we would recommend bringing your bikes if you can.
- the hotel taxes are expensive - we paid 100 dollars/night in taxes and fees (including a 20 dollar/day fee for parking)
- there is a great Starbucks in the lobby
- the Milestones restaurant is very good for breakfast with a nice view of the falls
- There were fireworks over the falls Friday night at 10PM while we were there that we watched from our hotel room.

Room Tip: Recommend the junior presidential suite & call ahead for high level; breakfast at the milestones...

It was a busy time of the year and I wanted the best room they have (Grand Presidential Suite Bi-Level) so I was only able to book it for one night and I stayed at a Junior Presidential Suite the other night. So I'll write my review based on each one.

Grand Presidential Suite
There's only one of its kind in the hotel.. it is on the 19th floor with floor to ceiling two-stories loft overlooking both falls. Breathtaking views and so much space. Little kitchenette and dining room and living room with big screen LCD and fireplace downstairs..and over sized king bedroom upstairs with both upstairs and downstairs panoramic amazing view of the falls. There's a bathroom with Jacuzzi upstairs and another one with a shower downstairs...Great room for couple

Junior Presidential Suite
This is absolutely the best value... I stayed on the 16th floor, but basically exactly the same view like the Grand Presidential Suite as it sits below it directly...the only difference is that the bedroom dosent directly have that view but has an inside window to the living room which has the amazing views...honestly I found this type of room (Junior Presidential) to be even better that the other one because the couches are closer to the windows thus while you are sitting down you are enjoying the views...and everything is there in the suite (kitchenett, Jacuzi and big shower, dining room) except they are a bit more compact that the grand presidential suite... Go for this type of room you will NOT regret it

So why I gave it a 4 stars not 5?? because the big drawback is their AC system..in all rooms...I guess its the chilled water type which if you are on higher floors and in hot summer days when the sun is shining the room will stay hot no matter what...it was a problem, but if you are not planning to be in the room for the daytime, its not a problem as night time is just fine and cool

Room Tip: Choose the Junior Presidential Suite - they are the best Suite value

We enjoyed this hotel. It was clean, the staff were friendly, we had a magnificent view of the falls from the 26th floor. Bed comfy, good amenities. Thank you.

You pay for room wifi...free wifi in the lobby.

The taxes unfortunately added nearly $82 to our bill....

My husband and I were on a road trip and we visited Niagara Falls during the 4th of July week for 3 nights. We had a fast check in and I did ask for a view upgrade and for $30.00 more a night i got it,so worth it.The food their was really good and the rooms were clean. The carpet in halls need to be cleaned or replaced.Everyone working there were nice.We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of The Falls.

Booked a falls view as this was a once in a life time experience. When we arrived we were upgraded to the 31st floor. View magnificent, we couldn't believe it. In addition very helpful staff who gave good advice about how to get around and places to eat.

Room Tip: Go as high as you can afford!

We were so thrilled with our room! Ask for a 4th floor room with your own private patio overlooking both falls! The first class restaurant also offers unforgettable views and menu! The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful! Thank you Gateway Marriott!

We (family with 2 older children) staid 2 nights on 27th floor. The view is breathtaking - worth every penny. We checked in to the hotel after almost 20 hours journey and we were exhausted. After looking at the view from the the window, the kids got energy boost and we could spend a few more hours in the city. The staff was friendly, room big enouth, clean and nice. If you get falls view, high floor room in this hotel, it can do the job for a perfect visit on Niagara falls. We strongly recommend.

Room Tip: High floor, falls view - makes a difference. Worth every penny
