“Awesome trip to Niagara Falls- Loved the B&B”
Reviewed August 21, 2011

We just got back from our family trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
We stayed four days and three nights at the Lion's Head Bed and Breakfast and had the best time. I would highly recommend it and hope to go back again very soon.
We stayed on the third floor, which had two bedrooms and a private bath. Everything was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. We had free Wi-Fi (extremely fast), a small frig and sink (kind of like a mini kitchen), a king size bed and another separate room with a smaller bed- could have been a queen or full.

The B&B is in the perfect location on River Road. We could walk into Niagara Falls or to the Falls itself or we were also close to the tourist bus stop-"The People Mover"- so we could pick up the shuttle to see any of the attractions. The location is extremely quiet- yet centrally located.

The best part of the Lion's Head was the breakfast. Helena does a fabulous job of preparing gourmet breakfast that not only my husband and I enjoyed, but our eight year old daughter, who is becoming an increasingly picky eater, loved. There was always an interesting beverage for the first course- a strawberry smoothie one day and apple cider another day.
We had a fruit dish every morning before each meal as well. It was always something very unusual, yet tasty- not just the typical cantaloupe/honeydew fruit mix you would usually get in a restaurant.
The breakfast entrees were a delicious french toast with fresh fruit, a fresh peach German pancake and an asparagus eggs benedict with asparagus sauce that was amazing.
The coffee Helena served was also excellent.
Can't wait to go back!!

We stayed here just last week and it was such a wonderful find - thank you to all you previous reviewers. Helena, the hostess, was as wonderful as others have said. She had such a plethora of information. One day we mentioned we were interested in bike riding - she picked up the phone and had bikes there in ten minutes! Her culinary skill is formidable - such a way with interesting foods. On our first morning there was a power outage in the neighborhood - Helena still provided a full breakfast with grace and elegance, though I'm sure she was more than a little chagrined to have just her cooktop at her disposal. Her guests, some of them repeat visitors, are all very interesting, too. It's like walking into your new best friend's living room and meeting all her friends.

We stayed downstairs in the newly renovated cellar, the queen bedroom. The two bedrooms down here have a separate entrance from the house and are completely updated with lovely modern decor. Our room had a sitting area and a luxurious modern bathroom. It was meticulously clean, and refreshed with fresh towels daily. Don't miss spending time on the exquisite verandah. We had great views of the full moon after a stroll to dinner and back.

Go ahead and book your stay here - you won't be sorry!

My husband and I had a very pleasant four nights at the Lion's Head B&B. Helena Harrington, the owner/operator, is a delightful hostess. Her breakfasts, in the richly appointed dining room, were tasty and elegantly served using Waterford Crystal, antique china dishes and porcelain tea cups.

Our bed was super comfortable and that wonderful veranda at the front of the house is a lovely, relaxing place to sit with a glass of wine and a good book.

Helena had great suggestions about what restaurants and attractions were worth going to. With a little encouragement from her we went on the Maid of the Mist and up the Skylon. Both were definitely worth taking in. Happily, this B&B is just a nice little walk to the Falls but far away from all that noisy touristy section.

Thanks to Helena, we had a great mini holiday. We'll definitely stay there again when we are in that area.

My sister and I decided to head up to Niagara for a road trip. We chose Lion's Head based on great reviews on TripAdvisor. Helena, the innkeeper, did not disappoint! Her breakfasts were fabulous! The pictures don't do it justice. She would come out and chat with us during our meal. Honestly, I just wanted to hang out with her!

We stayed in the Van Gogh room and my GOD was it awesome! I could have stayed in that bed for days, it was so comfy!! I loved how the entire house was decorated, too. Very eclectic.

The proximity to the Falls was awesome! It was around one mile and I went on a jog one morning to see them at sunrise.

Helena had great recommendations for things to do in town and for places to eat. She was absolutely the sweetest woman ever, very knowledgeable and has created such an incredible welcoming atmosphere at the B & B. I was so sad to say goodbye. So glad we decided to stay on the Canadian side!!

Room Tip: I loved the van gogh!

Beautiful turn-of-the-century house. Well appointed with antiques. Bedrooms are very comfortable with fine quality linens etc. Breakfasts are gourmet quality. Host (Helena) is welcoming and friendly and offers many suggestions to help you plan your stay in the Niagara area. We have returned several times and definitely recommend.

Lion's Head was well-located, a very pleasant 10 min walk up from the falls, along the gorge. The owner was a delight, helpful and knowledgeable re. the area. She served the best gourmet breakfasts! She is a chef. Great historic home, not too cutesy.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this charming B&B for a couple of nights in July. We chose one of the smaller rooms, which was nevertheless appropriately accommodating and comfortable. The hostess, Helena, was very nice and kind and had lots of good recommendations for what to do and where to eat. She is also a great chef: her breakfasts were both creative and delicious.
